NICK KENT
In 2002 Nick Kent was presented by the NME with the "God Like Genius" award for his thirty years as a rock
journalist. His document of the seventies "Apathy For The Devil" is a compelling story of inspiration, success and
burnout from a classic wordsmith.

HOWARD MARKS
Kenfig Hill's Howard Marks has written two best selling books "Mr Nice" and "Senor Nice" about his life as a drug
smuggler and his life afterwards. The film of "Mr Nice" with Rhys Ifans taking the part of Howard comes out in
October 2010.

A.C. GRAYLING
A.C. Grayling teaches philosophy at Birkbeck College London and is a fellow of St Anne's Oxford. His new book
"Thinking of Answers: Questions In The Philosophy Of Everyday Life" is a collection of essays that make thinking
and reading a delight. "If there is any such person in Britain today as the Thinking Man, it is A.C. Grayling" - The

RODDY DOYLE
Roddy Doyle is a novelist, dramatist and screenwriter. Several of his books have been turned into successful films
starting with "The Commitments" in 1991. His latest novel "Dead Republic" is a magnificent, epic novel that
explores the history of modern Ireland and is the sequel to "A Star Called Henry" and "Oh Play That Thing"

TWIN TOWN
As they have done for every Laugharne Weekend the cast of Twin Town will reassemble and do a script reading
of the classic Welsh cult film

JULIAN COPE
Has blazed the most singular of trails across the popular culture of the last thirty years from the Teardrop
Explodes to The Modern Antiquarian, megaliths to Japrocksampler. World shut your mouth indeed. A spoken word
event.

NICKY WIRE
Nicky Wire is the bassist and lyric writer for the Manic Street Preachers. At Laugharne he will talk to Phil Wilding
about his influences and inspirations.

STUART MACONIE
Stuart Maconie is an English radio presenter, writer, journalist and critic. His books include "Cider With Roadies",
"Pies And Prejudice" and his latest "Adventures On The High Teas: In Search of Middle England". Stuart currently
presents a show with Mark Radcliffe on Radio Two and his Freak Zone show on Radio Six every Sunday.

THE FALLEN
Three of the members of the classic 1979/80 era Fall - Steve Hanley, Martin Bramah and Mike Leigh (nb not the
film director!) - reassemble to tell stories of life in and out of the Fall and maybe even revisit some early Fall
material. A Laugharne one-off.

KEITH ALLEN PRESENTS LAUGHARNE'S GOT TALENT
The legendary Keith Allen will run a talent competition over three nights to prove that Laugharne truly does have
talent. So if you're a Laugharne local who can sing, tell jokes, play an instrument, write poetry etc come and prove
that you truly do have talent.

MARTIN CARTHY
Snger and guitarist Martin Carthy has remained one of the most influential figures in British traditional music since
his debut solo album in 1965. He has been a member of Steeleye Span, The Watersons, Brass Monkey and can
currently be found in Imagined Village.

FIONN REGAN
Fionn Regan's debut album "The End Of History"was short-listed for the Mercury Prize and his second album "The
Shadow Of An Empire" has been released to rave reviews.

ALASDAIR ROBERTS
Scotish singer/guitarist Alasdair Roberts has released 5 albums and his last album "Spoils" was in most of the end
of year best of 2009 polls.

ROBIN ROBERTSON
Scottish poet Robin Robertson has published four collections and won several prizes including The Forward Prize
for Best Collection, The E.M. Forster Award and last year his poem "At Roane Head" won the 2009 Forward Prize
for Best Single Poem.

DAN RHODES
Laugharne regular Dan Rhodes' new novel "Little Hands Clapping" blends lavishly entertaining storytelling with his
macabre imagination, entrancing original and magic touch. "Totally sick and brilliant, in all the right ways" - Douglas

LAURA DOCKRILL
Laura Dockrill is a poet and illustrator. A graduate of The Brit School, she went on to study creative writing at
Middlesex University while designing artwork for Kate Nash's music and merchandising.

JANE BUSSMAN



Jane Bussman is an award-winning writer for tv and radio including Smack The Pony, South Park, The Fast Show
and Brass Eye. Her book "The Worst Date Ever" tells the ill fated attempt to find love in equatorial Africa.

DAVID QUANTICK
David Quantick is a writer who specialises in music and comedy. He began as a writer for the NME before going
on to write for Spitting Image, Brass Eye, Harry Enfield, Mitchell and Webb and Harry Hill. He is the author of the
bestselling series of Grumpy Old Men Books and his latest book is "The Dangerous Book For Middle-Aged Men"

LOUISE WELSH
Literary crime writer Louise Welsh’s first novel, "The Cutting Room", won several awards, including the 2002 Crime
Writers’ Association John Creasey Memorial Dagger, and was jointly awarded the 2002 Scottish First Book of the
Year Award. Her second book, "Tamburlaine Must Die", a novelette written around the final three days of the poet
Christopher Marlowe's life, was published in 2004. Her third novel, "The Bullet Trick" (2006), is a present-day
murder mystery set in Berlin. Her latest book is "Naming the Bones" (2010), set in the universities of Edinburgh
and Glasgow, where she lives.

HELEN GRIFFIN
For many people the highlight of last year was Helen Griffin's performance of the one woman play "Caitlin" and we
are pleased to welcome back her amazing portrayal of Dylan Thomas' wife

CHARLIE CONNELLY
Charlie Connelly is a best selling travel writer, award-winning broadcaster and the author of eight books including
"Attention All Shipping" which was a Radio 4 book of the week. In his latest book "And Did Those Feet" he sets
out on foot along British historical routes and includes eight pages on Laugharne.

MY FATHER'S PLACES
My Father's Places was Aeronwy Thomas' memoir of growing up in Laugharne with her parents Dylan and Caitlin.
It ws published posthumously last autumn. Welsh actress Carys Eleri will read fom the book

CLINTON HEYLIN
Clinton Heylin has written on all aspects of popular culture but is mostly associated with Bob Dylan. His second
volume on the songs of Bob Dylan "Still On The Road" comes out in April 2010

MARK OLSON
A leading figure in Americana music, Mark was one of the founding members of The Jayhawks. Post Jayhawks he
has recorded solo, with The Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers as well as re-uniting with Gary Louris of The
Jayhawks.

RICHARD JAMES
After Gorky's Zygotic Mynci split their bassist Richard James released a classic album in "The Seven Sleeper's
Den" which The Times described as "a triumph of quiet perserverance : crafted perserverance, insidious and cool".
His latest album "We Went Riding" comes out this spring.

TREMBLING BELLS
For many people including Paul Weller "Carbeth" the debut album by Trembling Bells was the best album of 2009
and we are excited to welcome their unique folk/jazz/psychedelia to Laugharne

VIV ALBERTINE
Viv Albertine was the guitarist and songwriter in The Slits between 1977 - 82 since then she has been working as
a television director before recently returning to music



KATELL KEINEG
Katell Keineg grew up in Brittany and Wales and made her name as a singer/songwriter in New York playing the
Sin E alongside Jeff Buckley et al. Her wonderful new album "At The Mermaid Parade" will be released on Honest
Jon's Records this spring.

TIFFANY MURRAY
Tiffany Murray's first book "Happy Accidents"was short-listed for the Bollinger/Wodehouse Prize and her second
novel "Diamond Star Halo" came out this year to ecstatic reviews. She teaches creative writing in Wales and lives
in the Welsh marches.

RACHEL TREZISE
Rachel was the winner of the inaugral Dylan Thomas Prize for her short story collection "Fresh Apples". Her latest
novel "Sixteen Shades of Crazy" is published by Harper Collins in May 2010

ANTHONY REYNOLDS & CHARLOTTE GREIG
A collaboration between author and alt folk singer Charlotte Greig whose music has been described by Q as
"Achingly beautiful" and the critically acclaimed songwriter and author Anthony Reynolds, formerly of Jack

TOBY LITT
Toby Litt has written ten novels including Deadkidsongs, Corpsing and I Play the Drums in a Band Called Okay,
His latest is called Journey Into Space. In 2003 he was names as one of Granta’s twenty best young British
novelists.

TREZZA AZZOPARDI
Trezza Azzopardi was born in Newport and now lives in Norwich. Her new novel "The Song Hour" is published in
May 2010 and has been commissioned for Radio Four's Woman's Hour. She has written three previous novels
including the Booker Prize short-listed "The Hiding Place"

CATRIN DAFYDD
Catrin Dafydd is a bilingual Welsh author. She made the longlist of the 2006 Wales Book of the Year award for her
debut Welsh language novel Pila Pala and her first English language novel, Random Deaths and Custard (2007),
was nominated for the Spread the Word 2009 award by the World Book Day team. Her latest novel is Y Tiwniwr
Piano.

NIALL GRIFFITHS
Liverpool born and Aberystwyth based, Niall Griffiths won Welsh Book of The Year in 2005 for his novel "Stump"
and was described by Time Out as "One of Britain's most talented writers"

PHIL RICKMAN
Crime novelist Phil Rickman is known for blurring the boundaries between crime and horror, the realistic and the
supernatural, especially in his Merrily Watkins series of novels, featuring a down-to-earth female priest of the
Church of England employed as an exorcist. His new novel The Bones of Avalon is set in Elizabethan Britian He
has a radio show on BBC Radio Wales on literary matters, Phil the Shelf.

PHILIP WILDING
Philip Wilding is a Rhondda born journalist writer and producer for both radio and television. His debut novel
"Cross Country Murder Song" is a 21st century road trip to the heart of darkness and has been described by Nicky
Wire as "245 pages of dark, disturbing, romantic, American splendour"

PATRICK JONES



Patrick Jones is a poet, playwright, human rights activist and filmaker his latest cd of his poetry is "Tongues for A
Stammering Time" "Strong stuff" - Harold Pinter

RUPERT THOMSON
Rupert Thomson has written 8 novels and a memoir "This Party's Got To Stop" which is published in April 2010.
He has been short-listed for several literary prizes and currently resides in Barcelona. "When someone writes as
well as Thomson, it makes you wonder why other people bother" - The New Statesman

COWBOIS RHOS BOTWNNOG
Welsh language alt.country stylings from three brothers from the Lleyn peninsula of North Wales.

PETER FINCH
Peter Finch is a poet, editor, a sometime bookseller and latterly a travel writer, responsible for the excellent Real
Wales series He will launch his latest poetry collection, Zen Cymru at Laugharne

THE GENTLE GOOD
The Gentle Good is also known as Gareth Bonello, a Welsh singer/songwriter whose honest and tender vocals are
well matched to an intricate guitar style that owes much to the great guitarists of the sixties folk revival

WILL HODGKINSON
Will Hodgkinson writes on music for The Guardian and Mojo and is the presenter/interviewer for the "Songwriter"
programmes on Sky Arts. He travelled over Britain making field recordings for his latest book "The Ballad of
Britain"

IAN BONE & RAY ROUGHLER JONES
Anarchist Ian Bone was once described by The Sunday People as "the most dangerous man in Britain". His
autobiography "Bash The Rich" is being filmed by director Greg Hall and at Laugharne he will be reading from his
next book "Did Dylan Thomas Kill Swansea Jack"

Ray Roughler Jones came to West London from Swansea in the late seventies and started his legendary magazine
"The Roughler" which featured contributions from The Clash, Will Self and Neneh Cherry. His autobiography comes
out in May 2010

NO THEE NO ESS
No Thee No Ess are a Swansea band who revolve around the duo of Paul Battenbough (King of Despair) and
Andy Fung (Cymbient). They have released two albums, "Looking At The World" and ‘The Pocket Symphonies of
No Thee No Ess’

TU CHWITH
Welsh radical magazine Tu Chwith will provide readings and music from a selection of their contributors

Y NIWL
Y Niwl are a North Walian surf band, the drummers a mutant metronome, the bassist walks like a panther and the
guitars bend and twist their way into your face until you're dancing like a teenage weirdo
