4. • The basti kalpa yogas where Ksheera is used as Kashaya dravya and
also as Avapa dravya are considered as Ksheera Basti.
• Sushrutha while explaining the ingredients of Niruha Basti in the
context of Niruha Dravya Pramana included Ksheera as one among
the Kwatha Dravyas

5. Dharoshna Ksheera:- Boiled milk is used as Avapa dravya.
• Both Charaka and Sushrutha have advised to take the quantity of
Avapa Dravya based on Dosha dominance.
• In Vata Dominance - 3 Pala,
• Pitta Dominance - 4 Pala,
• Kapha Dominance 3 Pala

the Kapha.

• Ksheera is added to make the Basti Mrudu and to alleviate Pittadosha.
• Mamsarasa, increase the tissue enhancing capacity of Basti

11. Pancha prasritiki Basti-
क्षीराद्द्वौ प्रसृतौ कायौ मधुतैलघृतात्त्रयः|
खजेन मथितो बस्ततवाातघ्नो बलवणाकृ त्||४|| Ca Si 8
• Two prasritas of milk and
three prasritas of madhu (honey), taila (sesame oil) and ghrita are
taken together and churned with a churning stick.
• This basti eliminates vata, and promotes strength as well as
complexion

• The asthi dhatugata disorders should be treated with Panchakarma,
especially basti (enema) prepared with bitter drugs, milk, and ghee.
