3. Objective:
To design and implement the system for driver
safety -
- Seat belt weared or not
- Alcohol detection
- Camera
- IoT updates for the seatbelt wear or not aswell
as alcohol detection
4. Introduction:
• On a survey that has been done recently, said that nearly 70 of
road accidents occur due to drunken drive, with a range of 44%
to 67% in small cities.
•They also conveyed that overall of 56 accidents and 14 to 15
deaths occur on our roads per day due to not wearing the seat belts.
•In the already available system, the alcohol sensor is kept on the
car steering and thereby controls the vehicle according to the
presence of alcohol.
•But road safety is indeed important in other aspect that is the
reason we are controlling the system based on the seatbelt wearing.
5. Problem Statement
● As per the issue of driver safety it is notice that the seat
belt is weared by driver in very less time only whenpolice
verification is occur.
● Some time seatbelt directly fix without wearing tostop
buzzer
● Need to find the solution for the seatbelt if and only if it
wears then only car will start
● Second if alcohol detected then also car will notstart
● All these data with respect to date and time car ownercan
monitor online

1. Alcohol Detection and Seat Belt Control System IEEE 2019 In
the already available system, the alcohol sensor is kept on the car
steering and thereby controls the vehicle according to the presence
of alcohol. But road safety is indeed important in other aspect that
is the reason we are controlling the system based on the seatbelt
wearing.
2. Smart Car Seat Belt: Accident Detection and Emergency Services
in Smart City Environment IEEE 2021Importantly, to unlicensed
people from driving, the proposed system avails fingerprint
recognition based biometric system for driver authentication and
car ignition. Later, the system uses the information collected by
sensor mounted inside the seat belt to detect whether accident has
occurred. If accident is detected, then the driver heart beat rate is
captured using pulse sensor to conform the accident. The proposed
system demonstrated to reduce the number of false rate in accident
detection

3. Intelligent Car Safety System IEEE 2016In the proposed
system the NeuroSky Mind-wave headset is used to
capture different electroencephalogram (EEG) levels. In
addition to this, a limit Switch electrical circuit is designed
and attached between the seat belt and the ignition system
to control the engine starting. Finally, Arduino
microcontroller with its software is used as a signal
processing unit to control the safety system in the car. The
experimental results show that the system is accurately
able to enhance the safety aspect of drivers.

4. IoT Based Alcohol Detection for Drivers The proposed
system makes use of Raspberry Pi which is interfaced with
an alcohol sensor (MQ-3) to detect drunk drivers. When a
drunk driver is detected a buzzer is turned on and thespeed
of the vehicle is reduced. The drunk driver’s data(real-time
location, date and time )is updated on the Google Cloud
using internet .If internet is not available an SMS with the
drunk drivers data is sent to the concerned persons. The
information from the cloud can be fetched by the Android
application on the user’s mobile phone.

5. IoT-Enabled Alcohol Detection System for Road Transportation
Safety in Smart City In this paper, an alcohol detection system was
developed for road transportation safety in smart city using Internet
of Things (IoT) technology. Two Blood Alcohol Content (BAC)
thresholds are set and monitored with the use of a microcontroller.
When the first threshold is reached, the developed system transmits
the BAC level of the driver and the position coordinates of the
vehicle to the central monitoring unit. At the reach of the second
BAC threshold, the IoT-enabled alcohol detection system shuts down
the vehicle’s engine, triggers an alarm and puts on the warning light
indicator. A prototype of this scenario is designed and implemented
such that a Direct Current (DC) motor acted as the vehicle’s engine
while a push button served as its ignition system. The efficiency of
this system is tested to ensure proper functionality. The deployment
of this system will help in reducing the incidence of drunk driving
related road accidents in smart cities.

• Use for the driver protection.
•Use for tracking the reason of accident if occur help
for police verification and insurance.
•Car will not start if seatbelt not weared oralcohol
detected.
18. Conclusions & Future Scope
● An alcohol & seat belt detection system will be
developed for road transportation safety in smart city
using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
● This system not only curbs drunk driving by
automatically shutting down the vehicle that contains
the drunk driver but also allows for traffic authorities to
easily locate the shutdown vehicles using the
coordinates of the vehicle sent to web server.
● The technologies which are used in the proposed system
are good enough to ensure the perfect shut down and
pick up of the drunk driven vehicle..
