or haven't decided.

In India, its never deciding what you want to be. Its just deciding what
education to take based on the market driven forces make the parents and
students feel will give value. (Every career expert conducts lectures on how to
get into IIT but none of them tell you, what if you cant get in)
The lack of information and awareness to the world of work has a
significant proportion of students following the path that that least
amount of resistance and maximum amount of marketing done..

In India, a normally a family invests around 17-18
years of their child’s life in education with an intention to
get the next 40 years of work-life RIGHT, FULFILLING
AND HAPPY.
And the investment is just not money. The investment is
massive with NO guarantee of returns either financially
or socially.
With 78% unable to decide what they want to be , and
the rest taking up uninformed and unplanned Career
Decisions, The OUTCOME is unaware, unprepared,
unwillingly educated youth with no focus on long term.
Ultimately, they leave it to luck for their careers, remain
unproductive in frictional employment, leading mediocre
careers. Neither are the youth benefiting nor is the
nation/ industry.
There is substantial dissatisfaction with the quality of
graduates. 64% of employers are only somewhat
satisfied or worse with the current engineering
graduate skills.
Wide gaps can be observed among almost all skills.
This is more obvious for higher order skills, such as
Problem Solving that falls in Professional skills for an
engineer.
