HONESTY • Philippe Quint is a famous violinist • He left his violin in the back of a taxi in New York - It was a Stradivarius made in the 18th century by Antonio Stradivari who was believed to be the best instrument maker of all time - It was worth 2 million pounds - He was loaned it by some vey rich people as he was the best violinist in the world
  11. 11. HONESTY How do you think he felt? What do you think he would do?
  12. 12. HONESTY  He rang the police, taxi firms and everybody he knew  The violin was in Mohammed Khalil taxi and he hadn’t realised. He left it in the taxi over night.  When Mohammed got to the airport his friends told him about the missing violin.  When he looked in the back of his taxi there it was! What do you think Mohammed did? Why?

HONESTY  Mohammed handed the violin back to Phillipe Quint who was delighted  Phillipe gave Mohammed all the money he had on him and gave all the taxi drivers a concert  The mayor of New Jersey heard what had happened and gave a speech about Mohammed's honesty and gave him a special medal from the city. Would you have done the same? How do you feel about Mohammed as a person?
  14. 14. HONESTY  The moral of the story is to tell the truth and be honest. Q: What would have happened if Phillipe hadn’t told people the violin was lost? Q: What would have happened if Mohammed had kept the violin?  We never keep something we have found because we think of how the person who has lost it would feel.  If we make a mistake or lose something precious we tell someone so they can help us.

  16. 16. Why do people tell lies? To make ourselves look better To stop us from being embarrassed To avoid getting into trouble To get attention

  19. 19. Honesty Telling the truth/ being honest stops people getting hurt Telling the truth makes you feel better Telling the truth enables people trust you

  21. 21. What happens when people break or lose your trust?
  22. 22. Broken Trust Sam’s teacher had given the children in their class some new play equipment. Her only rule was to stay away from the school roof. That morning Sam was throwing a ball around the playground with some friends. The ball accidentally went onto the school roof. Q: How would Sam and his friends feel? Q: What should they do?
  23. 23. Broken Trust Sam and his friends said nothing and lined up with the rest of the class. Their teacher asked the class where the ball was and who was playing with it. -They said nothing. Q: How does the teacher feel? Q: How does Sam and his friends feel? Q: How do the rest of the class feel?

Broken Trust  The teacher told the class that no-one would be in trouble she just wanted to know where it was. -They said nothing.  The teacher asked if anyone had seen anyone playing with the ball. -They said nothing.  The teacher explained that if no-one owned up they would have to stop all the play equipment going outside. - They said nothing Q: How does the teacher feel? Q: How does Sam and his friends feel? Q: How does the class feel?
  25. 25. Broken Trust Sam owned up and explained that the ball was on the roof and it was an accident. Q: How does the teacher feel? Q: How does Sam and his friends feel? Q: How does the class feel?
  26. 26. Have you ever lost someone’s trust? How did that make you feel?
  27. 27. Who do you trust? Who might trust you? Your parents? Other family members ? Your friends? Staff in school? Who else?
  28. 28. Concerns and Worries If you have any concerns or worries at school about you or someone else you can trust the adults in school to help you. Sometimes someone tells you to keep a secret which worries you. The right thing to do is to tell. Even if you think or someone tells you that you’ll be in trouble for telling we always have your best interest at heart and will try to help you!
