2. Abstract
This project has the purpose of translating form Spanish
into English and provides a good translation for English
speakers of the book "Kaambal, Báaxal yéetel Ki´imak
Óolal. Aprender jugando" this book is about Mayan games,
lotery, songs, traditional medicine, riddles, jokes, and many
other things that Mayan people used to do. This
translation is focused on people that are interested in the
Mayan culture. This project also includes a brief
explanation of translation techniques that exist as well an
analyses of the text, the analyses consists on the
description of the found vocabulary, all problems that will
be found on it and also the techniques used in the process
of translation.
3. Introduction
Rationale
The reason of this translation is to have the book in
three languages, the book is in Mayan and Spanish, it is
consider that this translation is needed for people from
other countries and are interested in the content of the
book and also in the culture. There is a need for people
who do not speak Mayan and Spanish so the translation
of the book will be useful for that people. Nowadays
there are many people who speak English but they are
also interested in Maya and most of the people know
that there are many words are hard to translate into
English.
4. Objective
The translation of the text was requested by a professor of the CEI (Centro de
Estudios Interculturales) who also is one of the authors of the book that was
mention before. This work is not only focused in shows that the student has the
knowledge of translation and the ability to use techniques and methods of
translation but also provide the text into another language, English. The
translation will be useful for children and adults who want to learn a little bit
from the Mayan culture, the games that they used to use, the medicine and so
on. It will also be in the University of Quintana Roo at the CEI where some
professors and students will find it useful for doing some of their tasks, another
purpose is that the book been printed and published in the three languages
that in Quintana Roo people know, or have knowledge, Spanish, Mayan, and of
course English. When something is translated, it is available for every person
that speaks the language in which the translation has been done.
Another purpose of the monograph is to complete the translation with the best
methods and techniques of translation respecting what the author said or
stated in the main text. It is difficult to translate but not impossible with the
correct tools and the guidance of professionals in the branch this translation
will be done.

6. Method
A translator could find many difficulties while translating,
