  3. 3. MANUFACTURE The Danpalon daylighting system is manufactured from the highest quality polycarbonate. The product’s performance is certified by rigorous testing from worldwide institutions. It offers a new concept in architectural glazing providing outstanding performance and flexibility in design. The system consists of a main panel with Snap-on connecting profiles made of aluminium or polycarbonate. The use of stainless steel fasteners allow for thermal expansion and eliminates the need for penetrations through the sheet, hence the structure is 100% watertight. Danpalon is a unique patented glazing system that offers many advantages over alternative materials, including:  A unique snap-connection system and concealed fasteners that ensures:  100% water tightness  High impact resistance (the only system compliant with AS1562-3)  Free structural and thermal movement within a flexible system  Significantly reduced substructure  Quick and easy installation  No gaskets, sealants or silicone joints are required  No fixing penetrations through the sheet  99.9% UV protection for protection against the harsh Australian climate  UV protection coating is co-extruded with the sheeting, eliminating any chance of delamination ADVANTAGES

Danpalon multicell panels with this unique and innovative extrusion technology are available in a range of thicknesses and widths. Danpalon’s unique Multicell extrusion technology provides ten times more cells than traditional structures used in most polycarbonate sheets on the market. The smaller spans between the rib supports give you the best combination of translucency and strength. The Danpalon standing-seam connection system allows architects complete freedom to design spectacular glazed areas of unlimited size and shape. This 4mm solid polycarbonate sheet offers the transparency of glass along with the benefits of Danpalon’s patented standing seam connection. The Reflective Grey colour provides a reflective external appearance for walls and roofing while being transparent from the inside. Danpalon Compact offers numerous advantages over conventional glazing for walls and roofing include:  Lighter weight allows for easier installation and less structure  Higher insulation value creates better climatic design  Greater impact resistance improves safety and security The Compact system consists of:  Transparent 4mm Compact panel, 592mm wide.  Transparent Polycarbonate Connector  Aluminium Connector  Transparent Polycarbonate Spacer The system’s installed module width is 600mm. The system is free floating.   12. 12. CUTTING Sheets shall be cut using a fine tooth handsaw, circular saw with a fine tooth metal blade at low speeds or an abrasive wheel. Cutting produces dust which should be removed either with a vacuum cleaner or an air gun. FIXING Knee Fasteners: Position the first sheet and position fasteners on the side of the sheet ready to receive the next. Knee fasteners are suitable for fitting to both purlins and rafters. If fitting to steel framework use rivets. 35mm wafer head screws should be used for timber. Trapezoidal Fasteners: These are a stronger fixing alternative when using 16mm sheets. INSTALLATION RECOMMENDED PITCH A minimum pitch of 5 degrees is recommended to avoid deflection and dirt accumulation.

  18. 18. Danpalon polycarbonate sheets have good chemical resistance, at room temperature, to a variety of dilute organic and inorganic acids. Water, vegetable oils, solutions of natural salts, aliphatic hydrocarbons and alcohols are also included in this category. Some chemical substances may attack these sheets. Among them are low molecular weight aldehydes and ethers, ketones, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons, per chlorinated hydrocarbons, acetone and xylene. They are not compatible with alkalines, alkali salts, amines and high ozone concentrations. CLEANING For small areas:  Rinse the sheet with lukewarm water.  Wash the sheets with a solution of mild soap or household detergent and lukewarm water, using a soft cloth or a sponge in one direction only to loosen any dirt and grime.  Rinse with cold water and dry with a soft cloth in one direction only to prevent water spotting.  To remove labels, stickers etc., the use of kerosene, neptha or white spirits is generally effective. Afterwards, repeat steps 1 to 3 above. For large areas:  Clean surface with a high pressure water and/or steam cleaner. (No more than 80oC)  Use of additives to the water should be restricted to those compatible with Danpalon polycarbonate sheets.  Recommended solvent cleaners are: White Spirit, Petroleum Ether (BP65), Hexane and Heptane. When cleaning bent these sheets, it is recommended to try the solvent first on a bent sample of the material for a few hours, if no visible discolouration has occurred apply the solvent on the whole area. Never use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners on Danpalon polycarbonate sheets. Cleaners and solvent generally recommended for use on polycarbonate are not necessarily compatible with the UV Protected surface of the Danpalon polycarbonate sheets. Do not use either BUTYL CELLOSOLVE or ISOPROPANOL on the UV protected surface of Danpalon polycarbonate sheets. Never scrub with brushes, steel wool or other abrasive a material. MAINTENANCE For maintenance purposes ‘walking boards’ should be used across the connectors. The boards themselves should be in accordance with Australian OH&S Standards and should be used according to OH&S legislative guidelines. Precautions that need to be identified would come from an OH&S consultant. Workcover should be able to assist. An important aspect is the slope of the roof. Walk boards should not slide off the roof.
