when the gym becomes
half

empty,

booming

and

retail

is

exercise

takes a backburner for
most. It’s officially 3½
weeks

left

before

Christmas and this time of
the year, more often or not
celebrate and overindulge. Whether it’s the temptation of eating too many party
nibbles and mince pies to drinking excessively. But did you know the average adult
will gain up to 5Ibs/ 2kg I just 4 weeks! Yes trying to lose weight, this time of the
year is somewhat ridiculous but really this time of the year it’s about stability/
maintenance. To put 1 Ib of fat you would need to consume an extra 3500 calories
that easy done if you gained on average 500 extra calories per day. The cocktails and
the baileys do the real damage so opt for a glass of wine, spritzers or slim/lime tonic.
So what can you do to stay on track?
1. Consistency-: If you have a goal you want to achieve, stay consistent with
your training and nutritional goals. Don’t get distracted and derailed if you
have set yourself targets
2. Limit your alcohol intake-: As I mentioned in my previous article, alcohol
inhibits fat loss, disrupts hormone balance and increases calorie intake.
3. Feel free to have a cheat day-: It’s a necessity to have a cheat day, you should
be able to enjoy and love your food without the feeling of a guilty conscious
4.

Beware of canapés-: Easily in one night, one can consume your daily calorie
intake

5. Get some exercise-: Going for a 20 minute walk/ jog, body pump class or gym
session will minimize the damage
