My2be culture deck

  1. 1. culture deck
  2. 2. people helping people Our purpose is to bring people closer together, creating meaningful, long-lasting relationships, built on the ethos of ‘people helping people’. We strive to remove all barriers to entry in order to connect people that can advise, guide and mentor the people that need it the most in their education, careers, and lives.
  3. 3. people focussed technology We are delivering technology to facilitate a human experience. When designing and building a product, we must focus on how this will improve people’s lives, and not merely replace a person in an already broken process.
  4. 4. challenge everything Challenge everything we do, and how we do it. Never accept the status quo or phrases such as “that’s just the way it is”, “that’s how we always do it”, “that’s just how it’s done”. If you believe something can be improved or isn t right then challenge it.
  5. 5. shy bairns get nowt A company motto and philosophy, derived from the North East of England which quite simply means; “if you don’t ask, you don’t get.” The biggest regrets in life are always when someone didn’t take a chance when they had an opportunity, so don’t be shy.
  6. 6. go for it Taking risks enables us to achieve more. When presented with any opportunity, if the potential good outweighs the bad, quite simply “Go for it!”
  7. 7. family first Your family are the most important thing in your life. They are the reason we all go to work in the first place. There are too many stories of people missing key family moments due to work, and life is too short for that, so if you have something happening with your family that is important to you, be there for it.
  8. 8. prioritise your health Mental and physical health are equally important. Make sure you take the time to maintain both where you can. Do not let your work become something that is detrimental to either.
  9. 9. sacrifice In all of human history, nothing great has ever been achieved without sacrifice. Every “overnight success” you will ever see, has years of hard work behind it. In order to achieve something great, you must make the necessary sacrifices. We understand the difficulty of this, and that is why we must support each other along the way.
  10. 10. relationships Business is all about relationships, with your colleagues, your customers and all stakeholders. All solid relationships are built on trust. Take the time to build relationships both within and externally to the company. This is what our business is all about.
  11. 11. show respect You will spend more time with your work colleagues than with your families. It is human nature that people will clash, and may even actively dislike each other. However, that does not mean that you cannot work together and still deliver high quality output. All we ask is that you show each other respect.
  12. 12. celebrate victories but remember defeats Victories should be celebrated but not dwelt on, enjoy the moment, but move on quickly and focus on the next win. “Remember the losses” is the ethos of the New Zealand All Blacks, one of the greatest teams in sporting history. They use their defeats as fuel, they address what went wrong and look to improve on it, to strive to never feel the pain of defeat again.
  13. 13. autonomy We don’t have set hours, we don’t have limits on days off, and we adopt remote working. Routine works for some but not all, make sure you do what works for you in order to be at your best both for yourself and the team.
  14. 14. release, break, improve/remove When building products, don’t wait for them to be perfect. Release them to the users, let them break them, then make the necessary improvements based on the user feedback, data, and your own intuition. If a product is poor or unused, remove it.
  15. 15. get shit done The autonomy and freedoms we have in place allow you to work in a way that suits you, all we ask is you ensure that you ‘get shit done’, meet your deadlines, and deliver the best.
  16. 16. don’t be a martyr Don’t work 100 hours a week to be a hero. Sometimes you can be more productive in 1 hour than you can in an entire day if you’ve had adequate rest. If you’re sick, stay at home. Don’t compromise the health of others by coming into the office when you are ill.
  17. 17. don’t take the piss We allow a lot of freedoms as outlined in this deck. We simply ask that you don’t take the piss with them. Have respect for your teammates and the company.
  18. 18. add value Ensure that you are always aiming to add value. This can be a simple act of kindness, being polite, respecting your colleagues, but it can also be sharing your ideas, challenging the status quo, and aiming to improve yourself and the company as a whole.
  19. 19. diversify Progression in the workplace doesn’t always need to be linear. Learning about other areas and best practices can enhance your day to day. If there is an area interest that you want to learn more about or focus on, then you have the freedom to do this.
  20. 20. what would you like to see Our culture is always evolving, tell us what you would like to see.
