Complaints & appeals p group
1. Academic Registrars Council
Complaints and Appeals Practitioner Group
REMIT: This ARC Practitioner Group has been established to represent the views of
the HE sector on all issues relating to student complaints and appeals. The Group
advises members on latest developments, provides a forum for debate, disseminates
good practice and seeks to influence and lead debate on these issues across the
sector.
CURRENT PROJECTS: The Practitioner Group has produced guidance on best
practice on managing academic appeals, and on managing extenuating
circumstances.
Two task groups of the Group are currently working (with contributions from the
NUS, OIA, and QAA) on producing similar guidance on complaints and appeals in the
context of postgraduate research, and complaints and appeals in the context of
collaborative provision.
The Group is working on the identification of examples of good practice to be made
available to the sector, and on how a consistent approach for recording information
on complaints and appeals can be developed which would allow the production of
comparable statistics.
In co-operation with the AUA, the Practitioner Group is arranging a national
conference on complaints and appeals to take place in the spring of 2013.
