2. BACKROUND
Kathmandu opened its first store in 1987 and through the 1990s remained a small specialist
outdoor retailer, manufacturing many of its own products. During the 1990s, Kathmandu scale
back its manufacturing operations and shifted to an offshore sourcing model. By 2002,
Kathmandu no longer manufactured any products in-house.
Since its establishment 23 years ago, Kathmandu has become a leading specialist in quality
clothing and equipment for travel and adventure in New Zealand and Australia.
Kathmandu has grown from a small retailer of adventure clothing and equipment massive
business with a significant retail presence.
In November 2009 Kathmandu Holdings Limited was listed on the Australia and
New Zealand Stock Exchanges.

Kathmandu is an outdoors retail shop that specialise in everything you
need for traveling in the outdoors. From Tents to Outdoor Clothing they
are the shop to visit.
There main make of products is the brands . They are the leading
outdoors shop in New Zealand and Australia today. The Kathmandu brand
is in the NZX stockmarket today .

James Strong - Chairman
Mr Strong is currently the Chairman of Woolworths
Limited and the Australia Council for the Arts. He is
a Director of Qantas Airways Limited, a member of
the Australia Grand Prix Corporation and a
member of the Nomura Australia Advisory Board.

Peter Halkett - Managing Director and Chief
Executive Officer
Mr Halkett joined Kathmandu in 2006 and has
directed the growth strategy for the business
throughout the period of current ownership.
Mark Todd - Finance Director and Chief
Financial Officer
Mr Todd joined Kathmandu in 1998 when the
business had 11 stores, following previous
financial management experience in both the
apparel and retail sectors. Mr Todd has been
Kathmandu’s senior financial executive for 12
years
