■ Global News Relay is an international event that brings together universities around
the world to do news stories on a chosen topic
“The University of Salford in Manchester started GNR as a way to ‘engage
students with the concept of global news and bring them together to work with other
news teams across the globe’…”
■ It will be hosted by Fresno State for the first time and it will air live in the FS Focus
news room
Strategies andTactics
■ Use different platforms to promote Global News Relay
– Facebook ‘Like’ page,Twitter account, Instagram account
– Use Periscope to live steam for BTS features
– Fliers & videos with personalized mini intro
– Victor E.’s help with creating buzz
– Fresno State SM,The Collegian,The Fresno Bee,
local news outlets, etc.
■ Go out, engage, and get content for social media
– Interview local athletes, coaches, FS international athletes, etc.
– Work with FS Focus team for teasers, trailers, etc.
Implementation
– Create social media platforms
– Contact athletes, coaches, FS season ticketholders for interviews on how
sports has impacted them for SM content
– Get in contact with other sources for promotion (TV, newspapers, radio)
