Locations
The locations we used
For our music video we decided to use the following locations:
 The Woods, Pocklington
 Swirlz Ice cream Parlour, Pocklington
 Christmas Market, York
 The river, York
 York College music room – The band performance
We decided upon these locations because we thought they were relatable
locations where teenagers would hang out and as teenagers are our main
audience it would improve the music videos authenticity. Also the outdoor and
low budget locations followed the Indie genre convention of having low budget
music videos.
Woods, Pocklington
 The woods were a nice location to film, we didn’t scout the location out first
but we viewed images on google and maps and thought the wood was open
and when filming in October would give an indie grunge vibe.
Swirlz Ice Cream Parlour, Pocklington
 This location was fab! The ice cream parlour really suited our Indie genre
style because it was very unique and not a place featured in many music
videos. Also the use of ice cream connotes romance and love especially
through the couple sharing an ice cream.
 We did go and scout out this location, we wanted to make sure the lighting
was good and wanted to talk to the managers about exactly what we would
be doing.
Swirlz Ice Cream Parlour, Pocklington

Location – Christmas Market, York
 Despite not being featured heavily in the music video, I feel the Christmas market
played an important role in making the narrative relatable because Christmas
markets are becoming increasing popular among teenagers. This makes the
narrative more relatable because the music video is including places teenagers
visit.
The River Ouse, York
 The river was a lovely location to include in the music video because it
carried on the theme of nature through the music video and when the couple
were sat next to the river it was a lovely sunny location emphasising their
love.
York College Music Room
 The college music room allowed us to have our band play our song and having
elements of performance is a key convention of the indie genre. However
with more preparation it would have been nicer to use a more professional
room or have tidied the room so it looked like a more authentic and realistic
performance.
Actors
The Couple
 After being let down by numerous actors! We did arrange for two actors to
perform in our music video as the young teenage couple.
Holly Payne – Teenage Girl Kyle Wake – Teenage Boy
We felt the chemistry between Holly and Kyle was really good and their own
style was very Indie so they already would fit into the music video.
Organising The Actors
 This shows the conversations I had between the actors trying to organise
when we can film.
The Band
 The band we chose was a small band from York that we already knew, this was helpful because it
meant the actors knew how to play the instruments making the music video look more realistic.
Charlie Procter – Singer Tom Cowen – Bass Owen Macrae – Drums Josh Blackwell - Guitar
Organising The Actors
 These photos show the conversations I had between the band members to
organise filming.
Costumes
Costume for the Couple
 For the female actor, Holly, we chose to dress her in casual clothes which
people who enjoy indie music would wear.
 For filming in pocklington Holly wore an orange striped top with a denim skirt
and a grey long coat. We found this look was great because the denim skirt is
very popular among indie girls.
 Holly’s make up was minimal with red and copper tones, which again is very
popular among indie girls.
 Meanwhile, Kyle, the male actor wore a dark red t-shirt, pale blue jeans and
a long coat. We chose this because we felt it complimented holly’s style
solidifying the fact they are a couple.
Costume For The band
 When researching Indie band music videos, I found the band members clothes
did not match however they were the same colour tone, for example all dark
or all bright. We chose for the band to contradict this to highlight the bands
individuality. But we did find that indie bands dressed casual with simple
outfits like jeans and a t-shirt. We did follow this convention because we
thought it would make them look more realistic as an indie band.
Props
Props For The Band
 We only required props for the band because they required musical
instruments. This was done easily by booking the equipment on blackboard.
 We needed a Microphone and stand, guitar, bass and drum kit.
