BE YOUR OWN BOSS
Entrepreneurship is creating wealth for
self, employment and business
opportunities for others. In common
parlance, entrepreneurship means the
business of organizing, managing and
assuming the risk of an enterprise in
addition to making money.
Entrepreneurship is slated to occupy a
centre-stage in the new millennium.
Entrepreneurship is not restricted great
empires like the TATA, Reliance, Sahara,
Godrej, Wipro or an Infosys, or setting up companies or manufacturing units. In our day-to-day walk
of life there is a whole galore of avenues. Entrepreneurs are created and not born. Thus this results in
identifying an individual as an entrepreneur who runs a food-stall, pan-beedi shop, beauty parlour,
crèche, tifn services, cookery class, hobby class [mehendi, candle making, soft toys], or even
marking oneself as a tailor, tuition teacher, yoga teacher and so on. Entrepreneurship also
encompasses the gamut of Consultation services like feng-shui, vaastu, tarot card, investments, real
estates and marriages. One can see people as entrepreneurs in areas of direct marketing, insurance
agency, ower arrangements, stock market, and other nancial products/ services. With the advent
of technology and globalization a whole new range of activities have evolved like data entry, web-
designing, house cleaning services, party organizer, translation services, delivering tickets [movies,
transport], manning fax/photocopy machine and the list goes endless.
As the avenues go endless so is the list of successful entrepreneurs, a few to name like Maya
Paranjpe [Beauty Education, Training & services], Sujatha Khanna [Coaching], Dilip Chabbria [Car
Design], Manish Malhotra [Fashion Designer], Rajendra Pawar [NIIT Ltd.], Poonam Soni [Jewellery
