3. PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Project Title Tata Steel Europe - Supply Chain Transformation Project
Client Tata Steel (Europe)
Period June 2013 to till date
Project Details The TSE (Tata Steel Europe) Supply Chain Transformation (SCT)
project was conceptualised to replace commercial functions, currently
residing on the Tata Steel IBM mainframe, such as Order Entry and
EMH, with the SAP Sales Order Distribution and Handling modules.
The core aim of this is to support different order fulfilment strategies;
notably this will result in significantly higher volumes of make to stock
orders.
SCT Project involves design and installation of common and integrated
processes across TSE. It includes design, installation and integration of
SAP, MES, JDA planning system and Broner scheduling systems
across various locations in Europe.
ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) is required to support SCT by providing
standardized service oriented messages to and fro across all the
system (e.g. SAP, JDA, RF, Legacy system, external etc.). An
important key driver of this new functionality is to support faster roll out
of future deployments by avoiding unnecessary point-to-point
interfacing. The communications between applications is via a series of
integration services focused on business activities. The SOA
architecture was adopted for developing an agile and reusable
integration solution. These in turn reduced the effort, cost and time to
develop the integration assets required for future go -lives in SCT and
TSE IT as a whole.
The highlight of this project is a cross integration across multilevel
systems with the help of Cordys BPM tool, which is one of the largest
BPM implementation in history of TATA Steel Europe.

was still being used by other systems like SWAT-R, GNATS etc. There
are 17 Pro*C programs that run at specific time of the day. The
Maestro program controlled these programs. These programs used to
extract data from various tables based on the business rules. Finally a

Project Title GE – Capital Accounts Receivable System (GE-CARS).
Client GE Capital, Danbury, CT.
Period Aug ’97 to Dec ‘98
Project Details General Electric Capital – Commercial Equipment Financing (GE Capital,
CEF), a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric Company (GE) has
selected TCS – America (TCS-A) to develop and implement the GECARS
application starting from August 4, 1997.
This is a legacy application on Honeywell Bull mainframe with a network
database that needs to converted into a 3-tier application using ActiveX
Controls, Visual Basic5.0, Active Server Pages and Oracle 7.3 as the
backend database.
The project involves implementing GE Capital Account Receivables System
as a three-tier Web Enabled system. This is an on-line Transaction
Processing (OLTP) system involving over 180 on-line Transactions requiring
an estimated effort of 22 person years.
The three tiers will be user interface (UI) layer, Business objects (BO) layer
and data access (DA) layer. The three-tier architecture will run on following
configuration.
The architecture for the GECARS system has a Web Browser IE 3.02 as the
front end. The Web Browser downloads the ActiveX controls developed in
VB5.0 as the User Interface.
The middleware is in the form of ActiveX (COM) objects (DLLs) developed
in VB 5.0. The middleware implements the business rules and database
calls and resides on the NT application server. It fetches data from the
Oracle database residing on the Unix server. IIS is used as the WebServer.
Active Database Objects (ADO) are used for database access.
The Oracle 7.3 database resides on the Unix Server. Stored procedures are
used for updation / deletion of records.
