tissues that work together
for the overall function of
the organ, and an organ
system is a group of organs
that work together to
perform a specific function.
The human organism consists
of twelve organ systems.

13. Circulatory
System
It is made up of blood vessels that carry
blood away from and towards the heart.
Arteries carry blood away from the heart
and veins carry blood back to the heart. The
circulatory system carries oxygen, nutrients,
and hormones to cells, and removes waste
products, like carbon dioxide.

14. It is the network of organs and tissues that
help you breathe. It includes your airways,
lungs and blood vessels. The muscles that
power your lungs are also part of the
respiratory system. These parts work
together to move oxygen throughout the body
and clean out waste gases like carbon
dioxide.

The circulatory system works very closely with the
respiratory system to provide body cells with needed oxygen
and remove carbon dioxide waste.
The heart pumps oxygen-poor blood from the body to the
lungs through the pulmonary arteries. Gas exchange occurs in
the capillary net surrounding the alveoli.

specialized cells called muscle fibers. Their
predominant function is contractibility.
Muscles, attached to bones or internal
organs and blood vessels, are responsible
for movement. Nearly all movement in the
body is the result of muscle contraction.

The skeletal system is your body's
central framework. It consists
of bones and connective tissue,
including cartilage, tendons, and
ligaments. It's also called the
musculoskeletal system.

The central nervous system is made up of
the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral
nervous system is made up of nerves that
branch off from the spinal cord and extend
to all parts of the body.

The digestive system breaks down food
into nutrients such as carbohydrates,
fats and proteins. They can then be
absorbed into the bloodstream so the
body can use them for energy, growth
and repair.

The digestive system works very closely with the circulatory
system to get the absorbed nutrients distributed through your
body.
The circulatory system also carries chemical signals from your
endocrine system that control the speed of digestion.

21. The urinary system's function is to filter
blood and create urine as a waste by-
product. The organs of the urinary system
include the kidneys, renal pelvis, ureters,
bladder and urethra. The body takes
nutrients from food and converts them to
energy.

Endocrine glands release hormones into
the bloodstream. This lets the hormones
travel to cells in other parts of the body.
The endocrine hormones help control
mood, growth and development, the way
our organs work, metabolism , and
reproduction.

Endocrine and central nervous system are the major control
systems for regulating homeostasis. Body systems working
together maintain internal stability and balance.
Homeostasis is the ability to maintain a relatively stable internal
state that persists despite changes in the world outside.

of themselves to the next generation. We
