Parts of the body in contact with sharp or
hard surfaces that can cause tissue
damage and prevents blood circulation
A static posture occurs when we maintain one alignment for
a prolonged period of time. For examples, standing, sitting or
kneeling. The same position for an extended period can
increase the static loads/forces on muscles and other tissues.
The longer static posture occurs, the higher the risk of injury
due to overuse of muscles, joints and soft tissue
Bad posture and sitting for long periods
of time can cause back pain and neck
pain, headaches, shoulder and arm pain.
This common happen for computer-
related injuries at workplace.
Repetitive movements are especially hazardous
when they involve the same joints and muscle
repetitively and when we do the same motion
too often. This can cause pain and inflammation
of joints.

ERGONOMICS
5COMMONRISKFACTORSAT
WORKPLACE
ERGONOMIC RISK FACTORS ARE
WORKPLACE SITUATIONS THAT
CAUSE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE
BODY AND CAN CAUSE INJURY
Excessive force puts a high mechanical load
on muscles, ligaments, tendons and
connectors. This can cause in fatigue and
physical damage to the body. The effect is
either acute or long-term (chronic) injury.
WHAT ARE THE COMMON SYMPTOMS OF
ERGONOMIC INJURIES AT WORKPLACE?
Back pain &
Neck pain
Sense tingling or
numbness on muscle
Decreased range of
motion
Dull or sharp pain on
muscle, tendon and
joints
Muscle weakness
