 Interior design is the art and science of
enhancing the interiors, sometimes
including the exterior, of a space or
building, to achieve a healthier and more
aesthetically pleasing environment for the
end user.
 An interior designer is someone who
plans, researches, coordinates, and
manages such projects. Interior design is a
multifaceted profession that includes
conceptual development, space planning,
site inspections, programming, research,
communicating with the stakeholders of a
project, construction management, and
execution of the design.
 Walls, floors and ceilings are the main
elements of Interior design.

 Marble is not recommended to be used
in modular kitchen as it is highly
susceptible to acid attacks. It gets
dissolve in the acid very easily. It comes
in variety of colours and natural patterns
which make it ideal for the decorative
purpose. However, there are various
factors like weather changes, rain and
variation in temperature that degrades
and deteriorates the quality of marble

 Specification of Marble Stone Flooring
Marble stone flooring consists of 20 mm to 25 mm thick marble slabs laid over 20 mm thick base
of cement coarse sand mortar of 1:3 and jointed with white cement slurry mixed with pigment to
match the shade of stone. The marble stones/slabs used in flooring or dado are cut according to
the size and shapes given in drawing or to suit site dimension of the room and desired pattern.
All angles and edges of marble slabs are true and square and are free from chipping. The
surface is true and plain.
 Curing Of Marble Stone Flooring
 The Marble stone floor should be cured for a minimum period of seven days.
 Polishing and Finishing
 The grinding may be done either by hand or by machine.
 Manual grinding should be done after two days of laying of marble flooring
 Machine grinding should commence 3-4 days after laying marble stone flooring

Laying cost
The cost of laying Indian marble are, which is between Rs. 100-300 per
square feet. Laying marble involves creating a base of cement and river sand
before placing the marble slabs and therefore is labour-intensive.
 The Italian marble is widely appreciated for
providing high lustre and visual appeal.
Italian marble is quarried in Italy and is now
easily available in India as well.
 This Italian marble is available in various
sizes, designs, and patterns.
 These marbles inlay the floors, walls,
rooms in a wonderful way. Italian marble is
really very good quality of stone. Italian
marbles mainly use in flooring of house,
hotels, restaurant, resorts and shopping
malls. It also use in bathrooms, kitchens,
dining table because of their riotous
appearance, long lasting luster, and wear
resistance. Italian marble has too many
different patterns and designs for flooring.

 Italian marble – Italian marble is available is a huge
variety, and prices start from Rs. 350 and goes up
to Rs. 5000 per square feet, and sometimes more.
 Laying cost
 The cost of laying both Indian and Italian marble
are almost the same, which is between Rs. 100-300

liquid mass when this hard igneous rock was formed.
 Apart from its aesthetic appeal, granite is hard wearing, low maintenance, and waterproof,
stain resistant, difficult to scratch or burn and is long lasting.
 Granite is more durable than marble and hence can be used in modular kitchens also.
Uses of granite are far reaching as it can be used in the entryway, the pool, office as well
as in the kitchen. It is an extraordinary natural stone which is very easy to clean hence;
these days it is being commonly used in homes by home owners in different rooms for
different purposes. When acids present in soil and rain water react with granite, the granite
stones degrades.

  • 11.  Specification of Marble Stone Flooring Marble stone flooring consists of 20 mm to 25 mm thick marble slabs laid over 20 mm thick base of cement coarse sand mortar of 1:3 and jointed with white cement slurry mixed with pigment to match the shade of stone. The marble stones/slabs used in flooring or dado are cut according to the size and shapes given in drawing or to suit site dimension of the room and desired pattern. All angles and edges of marble slabs are true and square and are free from chipping.
