SAP-Hybris YaaS is a microservices ecosystem helping businesses to rapidly augment and build new, highly flexible cloud based software solutions. YaaS stands for “hybris business platform as a Service” and fills the gap between SaaS and Pass in an emerging category called bPaaS (Gartner’s term). The YaaS platform offers a state-of-the-art micro-service architecture build on cloud foundry. It offers developers freedom in the programming language, frameworks and software stacks they want to use (i.e., Java, NodeJS, Go, Grails, etc.). It is a development platform, open to all, offering a variety of micro-service as ready-to-use building blocks, allowing the efficient development of SaaS applications and services, while lowering the implementation efforts and by this the time-to-market. In this talk we provide insides, how we develop, maintain and operate the YaaS platform at world-wide, multi-regional scale, covering aspects like the underlying micro-services design principals, build-in multitenancy support and running a scaleable dev-ops oriented organization as a number of self-sufficient teams. On the topic “Application Performance Monitoring” we will show, how we address cross-cutting aspects, even it might look contradictional to a micro-service oriented architecture and a self-sufficient team approach.
