Designing an
Open IoT Ecosystem
2. Highlights
Now: developers have to build and deploy all e2e
components of an IoT smart application
Future: sensing/actuation systems will exist
New systems will have to use them, building a complex ecosystem
Openness: key factor for providing interoperability among
new and existing pieces of an e2e IoT smart application
SWAMP: and open IoT ecosystem instantiated for smart
irrigation with insights from the SWAMP project

4. Openness: Key Enabler
Open Source: code sharing
Open Platform: platform sharing
Open Services: service sharing (APIs)
Open Data: data sharing
Open Knowledge: knowledge sharing
Not necessarily open means free
