1. 1) What gender do you think would read a rock
magazine?
Male

From question 1 I was hoping to find out
who should be the main focus of the
magazine. The result that I found was that
100% of the people thought that male
should be the ones to read rock magazine or
would be the ones who would most likely be
the ones to read them. Nothing in this
question went wrong, however I am
surprised that 100% of people said male and
not a single person said female. In terms of
target audience the rock genre people think
that the rock genre is male orientated.

2. 2) What is the maximum amount you would
spend on a rock magazine? (£)

From question 2 I was hoping to find out the price that
people would be willing to go to in order to buy a rock
magazine. As expected no one wanted to purchase a
magazine that was 4-5(£). I was also not surprised that
50% of people would purchase the magazine for 3-4(£)
This was actually really surprising because I thought
that the majority of people who only spend 0-1(£) In
terms of target audience this shows that the majority
of the people who would buy the magazine are
possibly in the C1, C2, D segments and most likely
won’t be in the E segment. I have determined this by
using Acorns, which helps to classify the social class of
people.

3. 3) Do you know any sub-genres of rock?

From question 3 I have found out the most
popular types of rock sub-genres. In this
questionnaire the most prominent sub-genre
that was said was ‘Indie’ which shows that
‘Indie’ is possibly if not the most popular genre
of rock, however there were many genres of
rock that were said such as Metal, punk and
Hard-core. This shows that the magazine
should be ‘Indie’ however I will not be doing
this instead I will be going for punk/ post hard-
core as it is one of the easiest magazines to do.

4. 4) What colour(s) do you associate with rock?

From this question I was able to see what
colours people would associate with rock.
These colours are going to be the colours that
will be on my magazine to make it obvious that
the magazine is rock. Furthermore, these
colours help for certain connotations that all
work well together.

5. 5) Would you prefer a simple layout or
complicated?
Simple
Complicated
This question clearly shows that almost
everyone I asked didn’t like complicated
layouts. This was expected as simple is often
better, this question wasn’t very necessary for
the magazine however it is still good to get the
public opinion on this. The only thing that
went wrong was that I did not expect one
person to say a complicated layout. Even
though one person prefers a complicated
layout I will not be doing that since it is not
what the majority think, however if the
majority wanted a complicated layout I
would’ve done that too.

This question was really interesting in that it
was pretty even therefore I think I would
include all of these. However, doing this would
mean that the magazine has a lot of text so I
would have to do it in a simplistic and
interesting way.

From this question I was hoping to further
learn the style and further the genre that the
target audience would want to see. Doing this
allows for me to be more specific in my target
audience and the representation that I want to
create.
