2. NATIONAL STRATEGIC
IMPERATIVES
Change happens each and every day of our
lives, be it being a forced change for a sick man
who is told by his doctor to stop smoking
because his lung cancer is spreading rapidly or
change due to time, seeing the need to bring in
new changes.
3. EDUCATION SYSTEM
Education is also a system that changes from time to time
because there is a gap and the new change aims to closing that
gap. Ms GNM Pandor once said in a forwarded speech in the
white paper on e-Education “Information and communication
technologies (ICTs) are central to the changes taking place all
over the world”. Changes are not only happening in South Africa
alone there are also taking place in other countries or they have
already taken place.
4. THESE CHANGES NEED MONEY
AND TIME IN ORDER FOR
THEM TO BE IMPLEMENTED
SUCCESSFULLY. BEFORE WE
GO ANY FURTHER INTO THIS
MATTER LET US FIRST
UNDERSTAND THE STRAT
PLAN 2011 TO 2014 ITS
VISION, MISSION AND ITS
VALUES.
5. ICTS
This picture shows how
ICTs plans to the learners
education experience
through the use of
technology.
6. VISION
Vision: Our vision is of a South Africa in which all our people will
have access to lifelong learning, education and training opportunities
which will, in turn contribute towards improving the quality of life
and the building of a peaceful, prosperous and democratic South
Africa. (Department of Basic Education, 8).
The vision in short is a picture of where they see South Africa as
whole through education fixing the inequalities to produce a quality
education that will satisfies all
7. MISSION
The Mission is working together with provinces; our mission is to
provide relevant and cutting edge quality education for the 21st
century.
South Africa as a country has nine beautiful provinces and each of
these provinces produce educational results these results are then
mostly used to check where the other province lacked and how this
province needs to improve.
8. VALUES
Excellence: maintaining high standards of performance and
professionalism by aiming for excellence in everything we do
including being fair, ethical and trustworthy in all that we do.
Teamwork: Co-operating with one another and with our
partners in education in an open and supportive way to
achieve shared goals.
9. VALUES
Learning: Creating a learning organisation
in which staff members seek and share
knowledge and information, while
committing themselves to personal growth.
10. VALUES
Innovation: Striving to address the training
needs for high-quality service and seeking
ways to achieve our goals.
Growing our own personal values as
individuals and our morals
12. KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY AGENDA
According to Prof Bernard CORNU who
defines knowledge society as a human society were
knowledge should bring about
justice, solidarity, democracy and peace and also a
society were knowledge should be a force to
change.
13. KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY
AGENDA
Educators all over South Africa have a
major role to play in the transformation of
education and education being the key issue
in the knowledge society (
IFIP, Stellenbosch, South Africa, July 2005)
14. KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY
AGENDA
Every learner in the knowledge society is a life long learner, content
and methods of initial education must be prepared or its preparation
should be for a life long learning
Life long learning development must be encouraged in all countries as
a tool to reduce digital divide and its development needs an integration of
education into the real world .
In a knowledge society networking id important as it offers many ways
to access knowledge in networks in education.
15. KNOWLEDGE SOCIETY
AGENDA
As a teacher in a knowledge society you are required new specific
competencies, as a teacher you should deal with new knowledge , new
ways of accessing knowledge as things change due to time and era that
we live in.
Teachers are well known to be the key agents of the education
system, we want a knowledge society more then an information society
which will allow all children and people to access knowledge and however
also benefit from being educated .
16. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
In the South African alone the notion of e- Education is set to
revolve around the use of ICTs to accelerate the achievement of
national education goals.
e-Education is about the connection of teachers and learners to
one another and to support services and also providing platforms
for learning.
17.
18. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
e-Education connects teachers and learners to better information
via effective combinations of pedagogy and technology
e-Education does not simply mean computer literacy and learning
about ways to operate other types of information or technologies.
Its all about ones personal ability to apply ICT skills to
access, analyse, evaluate, integrate, present and communicate
information
19. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
One challenge that’s faces the education system or department is that
there is not enough resources in some of the provinces to purchase
computers and other technological tools needed for learning activities to
take place.
A recent scenario that took place was in Limpopo when textbooks for
learners were expected to be there before school opened but arrived after
quite some time when other schools had began with their academic work.
20. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
This scenario is an example that some where in other places of the
country some people do not have access to basic this such as a textbook
and we expect them to move that to a computer.
In schools like in the Eastern Cape were have no proper classroom no
qualified teachers to teach, where are they suppose to obtain money for
computers and teachers to teach them theses are some of the problems
that need to be looked into before introducing new methods of learning
and teaching
21. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
The use of technology within schools children has grown over the
years through the introduction of internet access phones they can
search an explain things or concepts that a teacher ahs not taught
them in class yet
The Department of Education believes that ICTs creates access
to learning opportunities, redress inequalities, improve the quality of
learning and teaching.
22. PERVASIVENESS OF
TECHNOLOGY
The use of technology in the education system is for addressing past
educational inequalities that were caused by apartheid that denied equal
educational experiences
ICTs also plays a huge role in the transformation of teaching and the
training of teachers, the use of computers and other supporting
information and knowledge education schemes will help in changing the
view of education as the same old textbook and desk picture but into a
more hands on experience for learner and teacher
24. EDUCATION FOR ALL
Education is an essential asset in the lives of all humans all over the world it’s a
way were we all come to together through the understanding of our educational
experiences.
EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO
SUCCESS!!!!!
there is more to this saying then words the understanding of education
25. EDUCATION FOR ALL
Since the end of apartheid we have moved from
educations policies more then once first was the
introduction of OBE, NCS and now most recently
CAPS document these are introduced because the
Department finds a gap that needs to filled and
through these policies they try and fix the gaps.
26. EDUCATION FOR ALL
It has been recognised that South Africa is
performing below is potential
Even though South Africa still faces barriers
such as poverty its still competes with some
other countries with its results
28. EDUCATION FOR ALL
Inequalities that are produced by
poverty, not having the correct
documentation such a birth and not having
schools that are near by are some of the
challenges that face South Africans and the
education system
29. EDUCATION FOR ALL
The issue of us not all having the same
privileges has come to a stop because we
can now all attend the school of our
choice and have the same education
black or white
31. PRESENT FUTURE
NATIONAL STRATEGIC
OBJECTIVES
As we move from the times of being non
existing to a time were we take part in our
own education and be more ourselves then
what is expected of us to be
36. PRESENT FUTURE
NATIONAL STRATEGIC
OBJECTIVES
The aims for the future state that teachers will need to be
in the classroom at all times no teacher should be found
attending programmes during school hours
Education is a key fundamental asset to all who part take
in the opportunity of being educated no matter were one is
in the world its value is not seen now but lasts forever it
changes to meet the standards of world and the economy.
38. The interest of ones mind and the actions they present
entail how badly they wanted to be part of the education
system and what they want to gain from it.
All teachers should be all aware of the policies and be
able to correspond with all of the given polices
Teacher should also have an excellent knowledge of the
curriculum and the specific curriculum.

development in ICT 2007

40. QUOTE OF THE DAY
By educating the young generation along
the right lines, the peoples state will have
to see that a generation of mankind is
formed which will be adequate to his
supreme combat that will decide the
destines of the world
Adolf Hilter
