WHAT ARE SUPERSTITIONS?
3. Most people have heard the saying that if a black cat crosses your path its
bad luck (if you haven’t well now you have). This superstition finds it’s
origin in the middles ages due to the misconstrued belief that single
women (usually elderly) who associated themselves with many cats where
actually witches who could become cats themselves. Thus a black cat
crossing your path could actually be a witch.

5. Friday the 13th has been a source of
superstition ever since the 19th
century. Though it’s origin is shrouded
in speculations and theories, it’s
impact is quite evident. Many people
will purposely avoid doing anything
significant (like business meetings,
socials, banquets, etc) due to the
belief that the day is cursed and its a
source of ill fortune.
6. Don't chew gum
at night (In
Turkey)
Fancy freshening up
before a night out?
Stick to mouthwash
in Turkey. Harry
Oliver, author of
Black Cats and Four
Leaf Clovers, says
that the Turkish
believe that "if you're
chewing gum at
night in Turkey,
you're actually
chewing the flesh of
the dead".
Eeeww Told ya!
7. - TEA
► Finding undissolved sugar at the bottom of your tea cup indicates that someone has a
huge crush on you.
That's sweet. Or is it just the 'sugar' at the bottom of the cup that's sweet?
► If you spill tea while preparing it, it means your luck is picking up pace.
Turn up the heat!
- COFFEE
► Girls, if you spill coffee while drinking it, that means your lover is thinking of you.
► People, if you drop the cup from which you are drinking your coffee, that spells bad luck.
Watch out butterfingers!
8. Breaking a mirror is believed to be the bearer of death, because the image is broken
into pieces. It is thought that this belief is based on the idea that a mirror captures
part of your soul. So if a mirror is broken a part of your soul is broken too. Also
popular mythology says that if you break a mirror you will carry with you at least
seven years of bad luck.
