  1. The topic that has been chosen is the Potential threats of Earthquakes in Califo The topic that has been chosen is the Potential threats of Earthquakes in California.Executive Risk Assessment and PowerPoint Presentation GuidelinesThe Executive Risk Assessment and PowerPoint Presentation is a “briefing exercise”containing 1) a PowerPoint presentation substantiated by 2) an executive briefing paperwith a minimum of 1700 words. This report should be produced in the context that it willserve as available detailed information to you to be used in conducting a verbal briefing ona critical incident situation, supported by visual slides using PowerPoint software. (Note: Thesubstance of the material developed and used for your “briefing” is what is important. As inthe real world, you want to use substantiated facts or projections, rather than just “fluff”that fills up the pages or the slides. Meaningful information assists decision-makers inmaking well-founded and concrete decisions about how best to mitigate operationalthreats.)The presentation consists of two parts: The PowerPoint Presentation and the briefingdocument itself. The actual briefing document and the PowerPoint Presentation slides youprepare should be thought of as the ones you would use if conducting a high-level executivebriefing of military and/or civilian emergency response executives. In other words, preparea total briefing of sufficient quality that you would be proud to present to the governor ofyour state.Briefing TopicIn selecting a topic for your briefing, you may want to consider reporting information that isboth research/historically oriented and practical situation oriented in that it provides avenue for making recommendations to senior decision-makers (the people you are briefing). For instance, certain states are prone to or have a history of certain types of disasters, suchas tornados, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, or even special events like the Super Bowl, which would require significant planning.During the presentation of an actual executive briefing, you may be asked to provide botha historical aspect, also known as a background profile, and a recommendation for action. For the purposes of this project, consider that you are expected to makerecommendations for action. After all, recommendations are needed when futureplanning is to be effectively developed.
