With SXSW Interactive on the horizon, we’re sharing our annual SXSW Interactive Cheat-Sheet in an effort to help you navigate the awesome chaos that is SXSW. Last year, non-traditional panels inspired our on-the-ground SXSW ambassadors and trending tech continued to make its presence known in Austin. Over five days, conference-goers will have their pick of hundreds of educational sessions, meet-ups and parties to attend. With jam-packed schedules, many will leave SXSW feeling physically exhausted, but mentally excited for the year ahead. For more tips from our team of savvy SXSW experts, follow @360i during SXSW and visit blog.360i.com for updates during and after the event. Take a look with your stomach, not your eyes, and you may be surprised by what you find. In between sessions, try one of the places below to relax, network and fuel up to keep up. A G B F E D C PLAN, BUT LEAVE ROOM FOR SPONTANEITY Make a plan for your time in Austin. But also leave time to walk around and explore. Many brand activations aren’t in the SXSW GO app or clearly laid out, so use Twitter and Google to research them, or just venture out on your own. GET FROM A TO B LIKE A BOSS Pedicabs are fun on occasion (and when traffic is bad), but Uber is much more practical. For another transportation option in Austin, consider signing up for a Car2Go membership before you go. GET TO POPULAR PANELS EARLY Keynotes and panels with big-name speakers will be the hardest for you to secure a seat in. Arrive 30 minutes to an hour early. For sessions across the river, give yourself an extra 10 to get there. POWER UP PEOPLE The portable charger is a staple for conferences. As you’ll be on-the-go most of the day, be sure to pack a wireless charger (or two) so you aren’t spending your time searching for a charge. FOR THE THINGS YOU FORGOT The CVS (500 Congress Ave.) in downtown Austin will become your go-to for everything you forgot to pack – or maybe just realized you needed. But it gets busy after 10 a.m. Get there early for short lines. PACE YOURSELF FOR AWESOME CHAOS Sessions, parties, brand activations and more – you’ll be tempted to hit the ground running and not stop. Pace yourself and allow for breaks during the day to ensure you have the energy during the evenings. HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE You’ll be doing a lot of moving and shaking. Bring a water bottle with you during the day to not waste any valuable time standing in lines. NO BIZ CARD? NO PROBLEM! If you run out of business cards (or have gone digital), trade Twitter handles instead with new friends and acquaintances. You can connect, stay in touch via Twitter, and easily follow each other’s updates during the conference. PREPARE FOR MOTHER NATURE’S SURPRISES Austin in March is known for its uncertainty, so you’ll want to pack accordingly. Pack an umbrella or poncho and sunscreen and you’ll be ready for anything.
