• The first basketball
was created by Dr.
James Naismith, a
physical education
professor and
instructor at the
International Young
Men's Christian
Association Training
School, in 1891. Its
laces were the same
as of a football
today.

3. The First Basketball Hoop
• The first
basketball hoop
was a regular
basket, cut at the
bottom of it.

4. The First Basketball Game
• The first basketball
game was played in
Springfield,
Massachusetts. Since
Dr. Naismith, of the
YMCA, created the
game, he thought of
teaching it to the
kids at some schools.
Right then,
basketball was an
international sport.

5. Conclusion
• Who ever knew that the game itself, the
ball, and the hoop, are all made by a
Canadian-born American like Dr.
Naismith? Now you see players like Kevin
Durant, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird,
Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Dwight
Howard, derrick rose, and many more…
