Mendeley merupakan satu Reference Manager yang semakin mendapat perhatian masa kini. Ianya merupakan perisian Reference Manager yang boleh dimuat turun secara percuma dan boleh beroperasi sebagai perisian Desktop dan Web secara serentak. Sebagaimana Reference Manager yang lain, Mendeley adalah perisian bibliografi yang membolehkan pengurusan dan penyimpanan data-data rujukan di dalam pangkalan data yang dibangunkan sendiri. Perisian ini membenarkan menyimpan Petikan (Citation) dan rujukan mengikut gaya petikan yang dikehendaki dan dapat mengelak penaipan berulang dalam proses penulisan penyelidikan atau tugasan anda. Mendeley membantu mengurus dan menghasilkan senarai rujukan bibliografi dan petikan dalam rujukan(in-text citation) mengikut format dan standard yang dikehendaki di dalam “Microsoft Word” secara automatik.
Mendeley juga berfungsi sebagai perisian untuk jaringan sosial akademik yang membolehkan penyelidik berkongsi sumber rujukan atau berkolaborasi secara dalam talian.

2. Mendeley Desktop : Mendeley Desktop is the
downloaded part of the software installed onto your
computer. Download Mendeley Desktop if you
haven't already.
Sync : The process of synchronizing your Mendeley
data across devices.
Web Importer : The browser bookmarklet that lets
you quickly import documents from anywhere on the
web.
Mendeley Web : This is the Mendeley website
where you can access the web version of your
library, edit your profile and search for papers,
groups or people.
Citation Plugin : A plugin you can install that allows
you to create and format your citations and
bibliography according to your chosen style.
Before we get started, here are some terms
you should be familiar with:

(Setting up a Watch Folder in Mendeley is one of the most
versatile ways of quickly importing documents. Simply drop

1. To add individual PDFs, click on Add Files as shown above, then select the file(s) to import.
2. To add a folder of PDFs, click on Add Folder, then select a folder.
3. Mendeley can automatically add PDFs when they are saved on your computer.
4. To set Mendeley to watch a folder, click on Watch Folder. Make sure this folder is where you are saving new PDFs!
5. Drag and drop: individual PDFs or folders can also be dragged from your computer into your Mendeley program.
6. Once a PDF has been added, Mendeley will try to automatically extract the citation information. It will ask you to
verify that the information is accurate, or prompt you to search Google Scholar to add any missing details.

23. CITE WHILE YOU WRITE
Once you have added your documents in Mendeley you can cite and reference them within Word and
Open Office. The Mendeley Word and Open Office Plug-ins integrates Mendeley into these word
processors. Once you have installed the Plug-ins you will have the tool bars buttons that will enable you to
cite a document, create a bibliography and edit an entry. To cite a document and create a bibliography:
1. Click References menu.
2. Click on Insert Citation in the Mendeley
toolbar within Word.
3. The pop up will appears and click Yes.
4. Then click Go To Mendeley.
