3. Respect (respect everyone in the class)
Effort (show effort and interest)
Attitude (observe your attitude while online class is
ongoing)
Cooperation (cooperate and follow the given
schedule of the task)
Honesty (being honest in doing your offline task will
make you successful)
7. The Cartesian Coordinate System
Early 17th century
Rene Decartes was a French mathematician and a philosopher
used horizontal and vertical number line drawn perpendicular
to each other to divide a plane into four regions called
quadrants.
The four regions, quadrants I to IV, are named in
counterclockwise direction starting from the upper right-hand
region.
8. The Cartesian Coordinate System
Coordinate Plane
The plane that contains the x and y-axes.
the x-axis (horizontal) and the y-axis (vertical).
Origin
Point 0 at which the number lines intersect.
9. The Cartesian Coordinate System
Ordered pairs (x, y) or Coordinates
Used to locate points in a plane. The points are named with
reference to the two perpendicular number lines.
Abscissa
The first number or coordinate of an ordered pair corresponds
to a number on the x-axis.
Ordinate
The second number of the ordered pair corresponds to a
number on the y-axis.
10. 1. (7,-3)
Determine if which quadrant is each point
located
2. (5, 5)
3. (-3, -8)
4. (-10, 4)
5. (42, 0)
Quadrant IV, because the first coordinate is positive and the second
Coordinate is negative.
Quadrant I, because both coordinates are positive.
Quadrant III, because both coordinates are negatives.
Quadrant II, because the first coordinate is negative and the second
coordinate is positive.
Since the y-coordinate is 0, this point is on the positive x-axis and
does not lie in any quadrant.
11. 1. (7,-3)
Plot each point on a coordinate plane.
2. (5, 5)
3. (-3, -8)
4. (-10, 4)
5. (42, 0)
6. (3, 4)
7. (-2, 3)
8. (-4, -5)
9. (-6, 3)
10. (-7, 0)
12. 1. Solve system of linear Inequalities in two variable (10 Items).
2. The Assessment of the discussion can be accessed through
sjit.schoology.com.
3. The completion of the lecture ASSESSMENT for each discussion is time-
bounded. You are only given UNTIL MIDNIGHT to complete this. Access
to this activities will automatically be disabled beyond midnight.
