2. The Zimbabwe Mission definitely needs more help. In a
country located right below Zambia and right above
Africa, the country is severely suffering. The economy
has just about collapsed, and most citizens suffer in
abject poverty. Food shortages are rampant.
3. The Zimbabwe Mission project is especially interested in
giving these people help. They focus mostly on the
orphans. This project are the operators and builders of
the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Care Center. One of their
goals is to provide 2 nutritious meals to a thousand
orphans and preschool aged children each day.
4. Many of these children suffer from the disease AIDS and
other serious diseases. Thankfully, they now have a full
time nurse who helps meet the many medical needs.
With an increase in donations of medicines and medical
help they are seeing a decrease in the childhood
mortality rates. But still, they need more.
5. Economic and policy restrictions have both caused it to
be harder to receive items donated to them. Because of
this, they are working hard to try growing more locally
produced food with the use of on-site gardens. They
have also found a use for the moringa trees which
provide needed nutrients like calcium, vitamin C,
protein, and vitamin A.
6. Each child must pay a required school fee. They are
doing their best to make sure that this fee is paid for
each child. A co-op is operated that makes the schools
uniforms that the children must wear. They also work to
supply school supplies, and to do renovations on
buildings like the schools and libraries. They are drilling
new wells to make sure clean, fresh water is always
available. They are also teaching many local citizens
trades for projects to produce personal income.
7. As with any country suffering severe poverty, they are
having a hard time getting enough funds for the things
they need. Even though they have several churches that
provide them with much needed food and supplies, it is
sometimes quite difficult to get the items to them. They
are hindered in their ability to buy and ship much
needed food like beans and rice.
8. Various schools are trying to help by donating old school
furniture and computers for their use. Many also hold
clothing and/or food drives. Some focus primarily on
getting the necessary personal hygiene items that are
needed. Even with this help, they are in need of even
more things.
9. Even with the many generous gifts of various
organizations for the Zimbabwe Mission, they still
encounter massive problems. Once donated, they often
have difficulty getting the items shipped to their
location. A lot of the sea shipping crates cost about ten
thousand dollars or more to ship. Often needed donated
items sit for long periods of time in storage, because no
one has the money to pay for the shipping. Funds are
needed to get the donations to them. Many very loving
caregivers give up their time to help these children. We
who are more fortunate, should at least be willing to
donate to this very worthy cause. They definitely need
our help.
