Music Promotional Cover Construction

Here I sketched out some flat plans to give me an idea of what the cover would look like. Moreover, I included some drawings that I could import into Photoshop and fill with the paint bucket tool. These images are of the main artist and I also included some of the text I would be applying to cover.

Here I imported the sketches into Photoshop (I scanned them onto the computer) and then I began filling in the shapes with the paint bucket tool; I made sure to keep the same theme and house style from the music DVD. Moreover, I used the text tool to make a heading that would later be placed at the bottom of the cover.

1 2 3 4 6 I right clicked on the layer and selected ‘Blending Options’ and then chose various coloured gradients and applied different textures, these included the ‘checkerboard texture’ and the ‘noise gradient’. Eventually, I was happy with the final image because it gave the right feel and effect of a dance music promotional cover. 5

I inserted text of the artists name and song title at the top of the page, I also adjusted the sizes so the artists name was the largest and most outstanding. To add to this, i applied colours to text by selecting the ‘blending option’ tab, these include ‘noise gradients’ and ‘solid colours’. Also I applied a black and white gradient to the background, this allowed the text and the images to contrast against it and stand out.

I then imported an image of the DVD cover which is the other ancillary text. The DVD is being promoted on this promotional cover, I resized the image and applied an outer glow which allows it to stand out. Moreover, I applied a similar ‘outer glow’ to the text ‘In The Air’ (the title); this gives the text an extra edge.
