4. A recent article in âThe Times of Indiaâ
raises a very important question:
Is academic excellence a true measure
of one's success in life?
It further goes on to say:
High Marks May
Not Guarantee Success!!!!!!!
It is so becauseâŠâŠâŠâŠ (please read on)
5. The teaching process in our schools &
colleges focuses on preparing students for
scoring high marks. However; high marks do
not guarantee greater success.
It is because we need many other qualities
besides high academic performance to be
successful. Qualities like a personâs total
personality, communication skills, positive
attitude, time management & general outlook
towards life in fact play more important role.
However, most of the students when they
enter
corporate world lack these skills.

HR Head
of an MNC :
âTo get a corporate job
with a multinational
company you need to
communicate effectively,
write reports & put
together presentations.
Tragically, majority of
candidates lack fluency
& polish. They are poor in
grammar, including even
those who have studied in
English medium Schools.
They are unable to
construct grammatically
correct sentences.
They also grapple
with pace, tone &
pronunciation.â

HR Head
of a Factory:
âTodayâs youth have
a pathetic command
over the English
Language & very
weak delivery system.
Hence; their
communication is
wasted.
In fact, we reject 90%
of those who apply
for voice-based
positions due to
poor
communication skills.
In addition to poor
grammar
todayâs youth have grave
problems with listening,
comprehending,
assimilating &
responding.
We face problems. Our
employees need to
express themselves well.
We donât provide
language training.
We expect them to have
strong communication
skills to start with.
