7. High Search Volume Use the Google Keyword Tool to search for keyword terms, choose the terms which have the highest search volume, the more the better. Ideally you want to have between 15-20 keyword terms. Try to think of keywords/terms which you would use to find your products or what you could base your lens topic on. You could make a lens for Making Jewellery by Hand, Making Funky Bags and Purses, Making Money Online, Financial Advice for Beginners. As long as the title has the keywords in there you can create the rest.

8. Low Competition Once you have your Keywords, take each of them and put them in to the Google Search Engine in quotation marks “Making Jewellery by Hand”. Right below the search box, it displays how many results it has returned.

What To Do With The Golden Number Now look at your Golden Numbers take this in to consideration: 00-05 – Easy to gain rankings and to optimize for. 06-10 – More experienced marketers should be able to gain rankings. 11+ - Save for when you’re an expert. Forget about these for now. Look at your keywords which fall in to the 0-5 scoring, and create a name for your lens on Squidoo and see if it’s available. The reason for using this method is it means that it will be easy to get rankings for this term which will help you get more traffic to your lens, and ultimately gives you the opportunity to send more traffic to your website.

These blogs will then appear in your lens, however ideally you want to try to get your blog in there as this provides a great link from Squidoo to your blog. Anyway to get blogs from Google on to your lens do the following: Go to Google and search for blogs Search for Blogs relating to your keyword terms Scroll to the bottom and click RSS

Video Makes Great Reading Include a video of yours, Videos break up the lens make it more interesting for the reader and keep people interested, if you don’t have one get a video from You Tube and use it. Simply go to You Tube and type your topic in there – I promise you’ll be amazed. Go to You Tube and find a video which relates to your topic, and click on it. Take the URL at the top and copy it Paste it in to Squidoo where is asks for it.

Some More Key Points To Remember Make sure you take the opportunity to monetize your Squidoo lens, there are various modules however one of my favourites is the Amazon module where you can either specify products which you are happy to be promoted on your lens, or you can allow Amazon to choose the products which are promoted on your site. I always like to choose the products as I can choose the ones which compliment my Squidoo Lens. When you monetize your site you can even donate money you earn from your site to a charity of your choice or you can take all the money for yourself, it’s up to you. This next point is essential, make sure you un-max your lens. Albeit this is a highly debated topic, when you lens is maxed it proves to draw people away from the links which you place on the lens which is where you want your readers to go. Your lens is automatically set up as maxed, you can un-max it in your lens settings on the right by making sure the box is unchecked.

20. Original Content With Links When you’re writing content for your lens, again it’s essential for you to have original content which promotes your lens. You can use links in your Squidoo lens to send people back to your Website. Build Backlinks To Get Better Rankings Once you have completed your lens you will need to start building links to your lens to help it gain traffic, this however should be easier as Squidoo will automatically gain a fairly high authority from the search engines. A quick an easy way to get some links back to your lens is to find some other Squidoo lenses relating to your topic and place some comments on there with links back to your lens, whenever you place a comment there is usually an option to leave a website url in there as a link. You can follow the same method by placing a few comments on some blogs related to your topic and leave some comments on there with a link back to your site.
