1. Photo Plan for Music Magazine

2. Front Cover
For the front Cover I am considering to
mimic Jay Z’s pose for Billboard magazine. I
believe the image represents a powerful
and well known man in the music industry
which I would like to establish with the
portrayal of the artist I am creating.
The image is a Mid Shot as it shows some
part of the subject in more detail while still
giving an impression of the whole subject.
The camera angle will be an eye level shot
which gives emotional information about
the character within the image.
I will hopefully be able to use a torch and
plant it underneath my model to create up
lighting which defines the characters
features and also gives it a more gritty feel.
I plan to take ALL pictures on a plan white
canvas which is neutral.

3. Front Cover (1)
This is another image from Vibe magazine
which I considering to use. The image is of
the well known music artist Kanye West
this image gives off the impression of a
confident young man who also like Jay Z is
a powerful person in the music industry.
The image is a Close Up, with a direct
mode of address suggesting underlying
emotions.
The camera angle is also an eye level shot,
showing that the audience are on the
same level as the artist.
I will try to use light within the image
coming from behind the artist to make
them look like they are glowing.

4. Front Cover (2)
This is another front cover image taken from
Vibe Magazine once again, the model is
Eminem another well known and respected
artist in the music industry.
I chose to attempt to mimic this image as I
particularly like the stance shown on the
cover and the direct mode of address is
striking.
I will make the model wear a piece of
clothing which will stand out amongst the
blank canvas.
The lighting I am thinking to use is above the
artist but facing towards them hopefully
creating the shadow as seen in the image.
The image is a Mid Shot and is an eye level
shot which not only establishes the artists
uniform but also shows that the audience is
also on the same level as the artist.

This image is taken from Vibe magazine
and is of the president Obama one of
the most powerful men in the world but
also a powerful man in the black
community (which predominantly
purchase rap/hip hop magazines)
The image is a mid shot showing the
presidents attire and the fact that he is a
profffeshinal person.
The image is also a eye level shot with a
direct mode of address like the others
previously mentioned creating a
relationship between the audience and
the subject in view.
I would possibly use up lighting if I was
to recreate this image to define the
subjects persona.

This image of the well known artist Drake
another powerful person in the music industry ,
striked me as attention grabbing as it can be a
beautiful photograph if taken properly.
The image is a Mid Shot once again showing the
artists uniform
And is also an eye level shot but with no direct
mode of address which makes the audience
wonder why there is such an expression on the
subjects face prompting them to read the
magazine.
With this image I would use natural light as the
picture itself looks very natural, I may change
the colour of the canvas to black or a dark colour
depending on what would look more appealing
and professional

I chose this image from Vibe magazine as
when I did my preliminary task I used a
photograph similar to this, it is of Obama
once again. The image is a close up and is an
eye level shot taken on a blank canvas.
Establishing a relationship between the
readers and the subject, it also strikes
emotion with its direct mode of address, as
the saying is “eyes are the windows to ones
soul” we are directly in line with the soul of
arguably the most powerful man on the
planet at this moment in time. I would
possibly use some light from the front to
create shadow.
