Behold, We have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him ( TAQWA ). All Rights Reserved © Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011) “ When Allah intends for a community goodness, He makes of their leaders those who are intelligent (with forbearance); and judgement (rulings) are made amongst them by those who are truly learned (and just scholars); and He places wealth in the hands of those who are charitable (and kind). And when Allah intends for a community bad, He makes of their leaders those who are foolish (uncouth); and judgement (rulings) are made amongst them by those who are ignorant (reckless); and He places wealth in the hands of those who are miserly (selfish).” ( Hadith reported by Ad-Dailamy ) 26. "Indeed the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets, but if they fall into covetousness and greed, who shall be taken as leaders? The merchants and businessmen are the trustees of Allah, so if they are treacherous, who can be trusted? The warriors are the guests of Allah so if they become extreme (or take spoils without right), with whom can we defeat the enemies? The righteous and ascetic ones are the kings of the earth but if they become insincere (i.e. have riya’ ), who shall be followed? Do not put yourselves forward in the presence of [what] Allah and His Messenger [may have ordained], but remain conscious of [and fear] Allah: for, verily, Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing!” ( Qur’an: Hujurat: 49: 1 ) 39. Both are a great trial everywhere, to whomever depends to them both, in holding on to his religion” REFLECTION : We would indeed be afflicted with this Fitnah (trial). Only with appropriate knowledge and irshaadah , and more importantly Taufiq wal-Hidaa-ya from Allah SWT. would we be saved from its evil. From within every group in their midst, some shall refrain from going forth to war, and shall devote themselves [instead] to acquiring a deeper knowledge of the Faith ( LIYATAFAQ-QAH-HU FIDEEN ). and [thus be able to] teach their home-coming brethren, so that these [too] might guard themselves against evil.” ( Qur’an: Taubah: 9: 122 ) All Rights Reserved © Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011) 54. “ They (people) do not follow the learned (scholar); and they are not ashamed towards those who preserve their modesty. Behold, I am a messenger of Allah unto you, [sent] to confirm the truth of whatever there still remains of the Torah, and to give [you] the glad tiding of a messenger who shall come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he [whose coming Jesus had foretold] came unto them with all evidence of the truth, they said: "This [alleged message of his] is [nothing but] spellbinding eloquence!" ( Qur’an: Saff: 61: 6 ) LESSONS FROM SURAH AS-SAFF 57. All Rights Reserved © Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2011) “ He (Allah) it is who has sent forth His Messenger with [the task of] spreading guidance and the religion of truth ( AD-DEEN-UL-HAQQ ), to the end that He make it prevail over all [false] religion, however hateful this may be to those who ascribe divinity to aught but Allah ( MUSHRIKUN ).” ( Qur’an: Saff: 61: 9 ) LESSONS FROM SURAH AS-SAFF 61. Shall I point out to you a bargain that will save you from grievous suffering [in this world and in the life to come]? You are to ( IIMAN ) believe in Allah and His Messenger, and to strive hard (JIHAD ) in Allah's cause with your possessions ( AMWAL ) and your lives ( ANFUS ): this is for your own good - if you but knew it!” ( Qur’an: Saff: 61: 10-11 ) LESSONS FROM SURAH AS-SAFF 62. Be helpers [in the cause of Allah ( KUUNU ANSAARALLAH )- even as Jesus, the son of Mary, said unto the white-garbed ones, "Who will be my helpers in Allah's cause?" - whereupon the white-garbed [disciples] replied, "We shall be [thy] helpers [in the cause] of Allah!" And so [it happened that] some of the children of Israel came to believe [in the prophethood of Jesus], whereas others denied the truth. But [now] We have given strength against their foes unto those who have [truly] attained to faith: and they have become the ones that shall prevail.” ( Qur’an: Saff: 61: 14 ) LESSONS FROM SURAH AS-SAFF 72. “ O you who have attained to faith! Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people." O Allah, let me tread the most exemplary path and make me live and die in Thy creed! O Allah!
