Executive summary
First, I would like to introduce our business name, „Fait à la main‟ in french. It means
made by hand. The purpose we give our name as „Fait à la main‟ is because our products are all
handmade by ourselves. Our business location held at Taylor‟s University Lakeside Campus.
Through this business, we are selling handmade products such as crochet and bookmarks as well.
Besides that, as we are also running our business through the internet, so people who are
interested we will provide delivery services. The purpose of this business plan is for the donation
for Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia. We play the role of human resources management
significantly. Our leader had separate our work consistently so that we can concentrate on a task.
We have analysis our marketing strategy process. We try to understand our customers, analyze
market, analyze competition, research distribution, define marketing mix, financial analysis and
review and revise.
We have set our target sales units and target donation amount for us to hit during the
charity drive. The purpose to set this target is to motivate ourselves and to have a full intention
while running this business. We targeted RM1 000 for our donation and RM1 000 for sales units.
To hit this target in advance, we have targeted students for priority. The reasons are, most of the
students study at Taylor‟s University is rich and they would willing to help us as they might need
our help in the future. On the other hand, some people will help us purely with their kindness.
Because the money we earn from our business will be donated, so some of them would like to get
involved. Moreover, to make sure that our business can run smoothly throughout the charity
drive, we have to figure and found out our competitors. There is a few competitors such as „Lace
& Ties‟ and a lot food stall. Our strength and advantages are we give discounts to those who buy
more and we did not charge them for delivery fees. Furthermore, our products made with an
environmentally-conscious manner. As well as packaging. This can cut costs and be
environmentally friends to reuse recyclable materials. During the charity drive, we face different
kinds of problem such as customer unsatisfied with our delivery service and packaging. During
the delivery through poslaju, the parcels get wet as it is raining. And some of the bookmarks get
wet. So from this matter, we have got a solution, which is wrap a plastics bag before delivery.
We will take full responsibilities to overcome the problem and communicate with our customers
patiently.
Lastly, throughout this business, we have earned RM2 515 overall. After deducting the
capital, we got RM2 460. We hit our target and we are satisfied with the amount. Through this
business, we learn to be cooperative and helping each other to overcome the problems during the
charity drive. We have made a right decision of running a business for handmade items. Because
it is all limited editions and special compare to things come from factories. We feel honored to
run this business as we donate all the profits to Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia which is helping
those who needs help. The establishment of Tzu Zhi Foundation is to internationalization of the
mission of charity, generalization of the mission of medical care, completion of the mission of
education and deepening of the mission of humanitarianism. The Mission of Charity is about
taking care of needy families, providing emergency relief, visiting people in need, engaging in
international relief work, and others. The Mission of Medical Care is about Tzu Chi's medical
4
network which includes hospitals, the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Center, the Children's
Rehabilitation Center, free clinics, and others to allow every family to feel safe and secure. The
Mission of Education is about the core of education, Tzu Chi's schools, ranging from
kindergarten, elementary school to graduate schools, encourage students to cultivate their inborn
abilities and talents. Lastly, The Mission of Humanitarianism is about the mission of
humanitarianism tries to cleanse the human minds with its publications.
5
Objective
The objective of selling handmade bookmarks and crochets during the Business Charity
Drive Event is to raise fund and donate to a charity organization to help the society. We have
chosen to donate fund to Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia. The reason we have chosen Tzu Zhi
Foundation is because it is a very big foundation and is easier for us to find sponsors as Tzu Zhi
is quite well-known in the charitable group. As their mission is to internationalize charity,
generalize medical centre, complete the education and deepening humanitarianism.
Quantifiable objectives
We have set our target for donation amount which is RM1 000. We will run this donation
in Taylor‟s University Lakeside Campus.
Our target sales units during the charity drive is RM1 000. Our targeted person is mostly
students. The reason we target them because we will run our charity drive in Taylor‟s University
as well. On the other hand, students study in Taylor‟s University has considered as quite rich. So
we are trying to hit our target within 4 days charity drive.
As a conclusion, the purpose of selling bookmarks and crochet items is because it is
something different from other people selling and it can be a collection and keep on using it.
Besides that, the capital is not really high, but there is a lot of effort because they are all
handmade items.

Products and Packaging
Our group selling handmade bookmarks and crochet products.
Bookmarks
Description: We are selling three collections of bookmarks: Dota collection,
Jimmy collection and Running man collection. All of the bookmarks are drawn by
us using colour pencils, marker pens and drawing pens. Firstly, we search internet
for suitable designs then apply on our bookmarks ( some of them are designed by
ourselves ). Then, we scan the designs and do some editing through computer.
After that, we printed out the designs. Next part is the cutting section. We measure
and cut the colour paper then paste our designs on the colour paper. The last part
is packaging, we wrap our bookmarks by using used paper.
Attraction: We choose bookmarks as our product because the modal is small and
can earn more profit. Plus although it takes time to make the bookmarks but we
can do it little by little, and do it during free time. Then, bookmarks are useful for
everyone especially for students. There are three types of bookmarks, Dota
collection- aim for boys, Jimmy collection- aim for everyone and Running man
collection- aim for Running man‟s fans. Furthermore, bookmarks are easy to sell
because they are small and can sell them everywhere.
Crochet products
Description: Crochet is a process of creating fabric from yarn, thread, or other
material strands using a crochet hook. We are selling three types of crochet
products, they are flower design hair band, ribbon pin and peter pan collar. We
wrap our products with unwanted magazine paper to save cost and save paper.
Attraction: We sell crochet products because they are girls favourite. Crochet can
make people more girlish especially for teenagers. Crochet also can be a fashion
trend among the teenage as there are many crochet products like crochet dress,
crochet bag, crochet pencil box and so on. We sell crochet hair band with the
flower design and hair pin with crochet ribbon shape because they are rare to find
outside. They are a special product. Then the peter pan collar is also a creative
product which you can match it with a plain slim cut shirt then you will look
differently. It can beautify your appearance.

17
Promotion
The cause that we advocating is it is „Please help the poors‟ . There are many charity
events outside selling items like pens, postcards, key chains and etc to gain money and at last
donate the money to the needs. So this how we get the idea of selling bookmarks. All the
bookmarks are handmade and limited edition so we wish to attract customers not only beause of
our main message „ Please help the poors‟ but also by the nice design of our bookmarks.
We promote our products through Facebook , Instagram and Twitter by sharing photos of
our products with some explanation of our business charity drive event. We get good respond
from promoting through internet because nowadays everyone use facebook and it is easy to share
our photos and main idea of our event. Moreover, people who are interested to buy product from
us just need to leave a comment below our post and we straight away can respond to them.
Besides, we also promote our products through telephones calls, SMS texts and face to face
conversation. We mainly sell our products to people surrounding us like friends, teachers and
relatives. So it is easy to promote through our daily conversation. Besides, we also promote our
products with poster that designed by us which will attract people attention. Another extra
promoting ways is through middle person. The middle person is one of my friend who sell
watches online. I give him my products and he inserts the bookmarks into his watches and sells
them with higher price. For example, the normal price of one watch is RM100 then he insert one
bookmark into the watch and sell it with RM105. The sale that he gains he will take out RM5 and
give it to me. This ways of promoting not only can help us to spread out our event to more people
but also helping him to promote his watches business.

Sponsorship
After discussions, we decided to aim our family members such as our parents, uncles, aunts and
friends companies as our sponsors. We asked for RM500 for our business purposes from our sponsors.
We know them personally so that the chances we can get their sponsors are higher. We approached them
through phone calls, face-to-face meeting and sponsorship letters.
Chuah Wei Hong, one of our group members get a sponsor of RM500 from a company named
Kean Guan Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. He started to make phone calls and had face-to-face meetings to discuss
the details and the purposes of our business with them since the third week after our assignment brief. We
get the sponsors from the company on 7th
May 2013. They sponsor us in cash and we open a RM500
receipt for them.
20
Distribution
All the products that we sell are handmade products. So we don‟t need to buy or get the
product from somewhere else. What we need to do is just prepare the materials for our product.
We buy colour papers from stationary shop and asked for discount from the boss of the shop.
Then we print our bookmarks at Taylor‟s University library because the quality of printing is
good.
We deliver our product through posting and also face to face deliver. We have customers
from Sarawak and other places. For some of the places that we cannot deliver face to face, we
post it by using envelope. We experience one case that the bookmarks that we posted all got wet
because of heavy rain. So, for the next time before we post we cover our bookmarks with plastic
bag to prevent them from getting wet. Most of our customers are from our hometown. So we take
some of the bookmarks back to our hometown and sell them when we meet them. We prepare
some stock first before start to sell, so customers probably can purchase product from us not
more than one week.
When we decide what product we want to sell, we start to promote it. We post to
Facebook, Instargram and Twitter to spread our out event. We also promote it through SMS and
phone calling. For the first two weeks we get good respond from them. The highest sale per day
is around RM200. Actually it is not difficult to gain customers, we do not force them to buy. I
believe that our products attracted some of the customers due to the nice design especially the
Running Man bookmarks for Running Man‟s fans. We know Running Man is quite popular
among people nowadays and there are no Running Man bookmarks for sale yet.
Customers can order product from us easily. Just leave a comment on the post that we
posted to Facebook, Instargram and Twitter. They can also inbox or SMS us which bookmarks
they want and the quantity they want. It is easy for us to keep update with our sale and respond
immediately to customers who have questions or extra information to ask. What we need to do is
once we get any order we must confirm with the customers about the product they want, the
quantity, the price, ways to deliver our products to them and how we collect money from them.
We must record it systematically so that we won‟t miss any order or sending wrong product to
the customers.
21
Green Measures
We have adopted environmentally- friendly measures during the project.
The chosen materials of our product mainly are environmentally-conscious manner. Our
products are mostly handmade and hand drawn. So we are actually using recyclable material and
paper instead of using polystyrene and plastics. Cause we aim to sell plenty of bookmarks. We
got the accurate measurement to reduce the waste of paper and fit in as many bookmark as we
can into an A4 size paper. It is around 8 to 14 bookmarks can be fit in depends on the size of
bookmarks. Besides that, we also have some handmade accessories, crochet. Crochet is a
handicraft in which yarn is looped into a patterned fabric with a hooked needle. The only
material used for crochet is yarn. The yarn we use is not totally recyclable material but obviously
handmade is not coming from factories. The waste products come from factories is much more
non environmentally-conscious manner. So it still reduces the hazardous effect.
Moreover, we have an environmentally friendly for product packaging. We collect old
magazine and reuse it as out product packaging. We cut and fold them into a small bag according
to our product size. During the distribution stage we try to reduce the carbon footprint. We try to
promote our product through internet early before our semester break. We targeted mostly out
friends so it is easier to bring back during holidays. We will try to get ready for all the orders and
bring it back to our hometown during the semester break.
As we are selling bookmarks which is useful for all the times for readers or it can be a
collection, so less people will throw away after use. But it is also hard to say, there is still a small
group of people will do so. The material we used is paper so it is recyclable and reusable. Lastly,
we are doing really a small business, so actually we did not use any extra electricity and water
while running the event. These are the advantages of not selling food and beverages. It can
prevent littering and rubbish everywhere.
22
Operation budget
After several times of discussion, we estimate that we need around RM 100 to finish our products
and as our promotion fees. We used the money to buy the stationaries and materials for our handmade
bookmarks such as colour pencils, marker pens, drawing pens, colour papers and so on. Besides that, we
pay the printing fees for the bookmarks using this money. We also bought yarn and thread for our crochet
products materials.
We promoted our products through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by sharing photos of our
products. We also promoted our products through middle person. He is selling watches online, he inserts a
bookmark into the packaging of the watch. He paid us RM5 for each of the bookmark. We promote our
products with posters too. Through these, our promotion fees are quite low. In the end, we found that our
cost is just RM 55 and it is lower than our estimated budget.

Human Resource Planning
Organizational Chart
Role of Each of The Members in our group
We had equally divided the role play of each of the partners in our business. Such as,
Toh Chee Cheng as Project Manager, Yap Zhi Jun as Accountant, Yap Zhong Lin as Sales
Executive, Kristine Yong as Marketing Executive and Chuah Wei Hong as Financial Executive.
Following is the table of summarize job scope for each of the position handled by 4 of us.
Project Manager will ensure the group members always work as a team. Project Manager
will also ensure the progress this project is follow with the schedule listed by lecturer to maintain
performance. Project Manager will also monitor the members during this project to ensure that
members are highly cooperate among them and did the job which is assigned to the members.
Such as, Toh Chee Cheng will frequently remind the group members of the things that they
should be done by the week and ensuring that they already get at least a sponsor for the business
and getting weekly update from the group members.
The role of accountant is to record all the business activities happened until the end of the
Charity Drive Event. After the Charity Drive Event, the accountant will prepare the profit and
lost report to calculate the profit or lost in the business. Such as, Yap Zhi Jun will record every
business transaction happened. For examples, open receipt for customers, keeping the receipts of
buying materials, keeping the receipt issued by Tzu Chi Foundation which is the charity
organization that our profits donated to and so on. She also contact the external vendors for the
booth renting of our group. We rent the booth to external vendor with RM 100 per day.
The job scope of a Sales Executive is doing test on sale of a new product to know whether
customers are willing to buy it. Next, identifying new markets and business opportunities and

review own sales performance. Such as, Yap Zhong Lin will try to sell the handmade bookmark
and crochet products online to know the feedback of the customers. If quite a lot of people want
to buy the product, we will sell more, for example, Running Man Collection is hot sell product,
while the Dota collection has lesser sales.
A Marketing Manager needs to analyze the needs of the customers and developing
marketing plan to promote the business. Such as, Kristine Yong will design a very attractive
poster for the business and post it online to attract the customers. She also analyze the marketing
by visiting the booth of the competitor one by one and understanding the weaknesses and
strengths of competitors on the first day of Charity Drive Event. After that, she develop a new
marketing strategies by providing promotion on buying a bookmark.
Financial Executive needs to in charge in the financial planning, such as cash flow. He
needs to prepare budets, take part in making decision regarding financial and control the risk of
financials. Such as, Chuah Wei Hong will prepare RM 100 budget for our business to buy
materials for making the bookmarks and printing stuffs.
As a conclusion, Project Manager of our group encourage all the group members to share
their opinion, then gather and improve it to produce a stronger idea. Group members are very
cooperative by helping each other when the other members are busying with handling the other
matter. For instance, after Yap Zhi Jun has drawn the bookmark we help her to colour it. We
often gather and discuss together during lunch time in order to promote feelings of the group
members. Thus, improving efficiency.
25
Evaluation of Results
As a conclusion, we gain our profit by selling bookmarks, crochet products and booth
rental. We rent our booth to an external vendor, Clothink, with daily rental of RM 100 per day.
We earn RM 400 from rental, RM 1050 from bookmarks and RM 30 from crochet products.
With some kind of addition and subtraction as shown in the table, we gained a total amount of
RM 2460.
However, there are some advantages and disadvantages we obtained from this project.
We are able to gain advantages like try to search for sponsorship by contacting the outsider to
sponsor for our business. This leads us to learn how to begin a small business. We also able to
experience the difficulty of starting up a business. We cooperate well to achieve the same target
which is gaining profits which exist RM 2000.
Disadvantages like we did not set up a proper booth to sell the bookmarks and crochet
products except the first day of the event, this already lead to some kind of loss of the chance to
earn more profits. We also regret that we did not decorate our booth as attractive as our
competitor. This causes people unable to notice us easily.
Finally, if we can repeat the event once again, we will try to approach more and gain
sponsorship from the outside business. We will rent the booth with higher price such as RM 150
per day, same as the rental of Taylor‟s University provide the vendors. We will also decorate the
booth nicely by adding attractive banners. Walk around the campus to sell the products or ask
for donation.

  • 3. 3 Executive summary First, I would like to introduce our business name, „Fait à la main‟ in french. It means made by hand. The purpose we give our name as „Fait à la main‟ is because our products are all handmade by ourselves. Our business location held at Taylor‟s University Lakeside Campus. Through this business, we are selling handmade products such as crochet and bookmarks as well. Besides that, as we are also running our business through the internet, so people who are interested we will provide delivery services. The purpose of this business plan is for the donation for Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia. We play the role of human resources management significantly. Our leader had separate our work consistently so that we can concentrate on a task. We have analysis our marketing strategy process. We try to understand our customers, analyze market, analyze competition, research distribution, define marketing mix, financial analysis and review and revise. We have set our target sales units and target donation amount for us to hit during the charity drive. The purpose to set this target is to motivate ourselves and to have a full intention while running this business. We targeted RM1 000 for our donation and RM1 000 for sales units. To hit this target in advance, we have targeted students for priority. The reasons are, most of the students study at Taylor‟s University is rich and they would willing to help us as they might need our help in the future. On the other hand, some people will help us purely with their kindness. Because the money we earn from our business will be donated, so some of them would like to get involved. Moreover, to make sure that our business can run smoothly throughout the charity drive, we have to figure and found out our competitors. There is a few competitors such as „Lace & Ties‟ and a lot food stall. Our strength and advantages are we give discounts to those who buy more and we did not charge them for delivery fees. Furthermore, our products made with an environmentally-conscious manner. As well as packaging. This can cut costs and be environmentally friends to reuse recyclable materials. During the charity drive, we face different kinds of problem such as customer unsatisfied with our delivery service and packaging. During the delivery through poslaju, the parcels get wet as it is raining. And some of the bookmarks get wet. So from this matter, we have got a solution, which is wrap a plastics bag before delivery. We will take full responsibilities to overcome the problem and communicate with our customers patiently. Lastly, throughout this business, we have earned RM2 515 overall. After deducting the capital, we got RM2 460. We hit our target and we are satisfied with the amount. Through this business, we learn to be cooperative and helping each other to overcome the problems during the charity drive. We have made a right decision of running a business for handmade items. Because it is all limited editions and special compare to things come from factories. We feel honored to run this business as we donate all the profits to Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia which is helping those who needs help. The establishment of Tzu Zhi Foundation is to internationalization of the mission of charity, generalization of the mission of medical care, completion of the mission of education and deepening of the mission of humanitarianism. The Mission of Charity is about taking care of needy families, providing emergency relief, visiting people in need, engaging in international relief work, and others. The Mission of Medical Care is about Tzu Chi's medical
  • 4. 4 network which includes hospitals, the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Center, the Children's Rehabilitation Center, free clinics, and others to allow every family to feel safe and secure. The Mission of Education is about the core of education, Tzu Chi's schools, ranging from kindergarten, elementary school to graduate schools, encourage students to cultivate their inborn abilities and talents. Lastly, The Mission of Humanitarianism is about the mission of humanitarianism tries to cleanse the human minds with its publications.
  • 5. 5 Objective The objective of selling handmade bookmarks and crochets during the Business Charity Drive Event is to raise fund and donate to a charity organization to help the society. We have chosen to donate fund to Tzu Zhi Foundation Malaysia. The reason we have chosen Tzu Zhi Foundation is because it is a very big foundation and is easier for us to find sponsors as Tzu Zhi is quite well-known in the charitable group. As their mission is to internationalize charity, generalize medical centre, complete the education and deepening humanitarianism. Quantifiable objectives We have set our target for donation amount which is RM1 000. We will run this donation in Taylor‟s University Lakeside Campus. Our target sales units during the charity drive is RM1 000. Our targeted person is mostly students. The reason we target them because we will run our charity drive in Taylor‟s University as well. On the other hand, students study in Taylor‟s University has considered as quite rich. So we are trying to hit our target within 4 days charity drive. As a conclusion, the purpose of selling bookmarks and crochet items is because it is something different from other people selling and it can be a collection and keep on using it. • 17. 17 Promotion The cause that we advocating is it is „Please help the poors‟ . There are many charity events outside selling items like pens, postcards, key chains and etc to gain money and at last donate the money to the needs. So this how we get the idea of selling bookmarks. All the bookmarks are handmade and limited edition so we wish to attract customers not only beause of our main message „ Please help the poors‟ but also by the nice design of our bookmarks. We promote our products through Facebook , Instagram and Twitter by sharing photos of our products with some explanation of our business charity drive event. We get good respond from promoting through internet because nowadays everyone use facebook and it is easy to share our photos and main idea of our event. Moreover, people who are interested to buy product from us just need to leave a comment below our post and we straight away can respond to them. Besides, we also promote our products through telephones calls, SMS texts and face to face conversation. We mainly sell our products to people surrounding us like friends, teachers and relatives. So it is easy to promote through our daily conversation. Besides, we also promote our products with poster that designed by us which will attract people attention. Another extra promoting ways is through middle person. The middle person is one of my friend who sell watches online. I give him my products and he inserts the bookmarks into his watches and sells them with higher price. For example, the normal price of one watch is RM100 then he insert one bookmark into the watch and sell it with RM105. The sale that he gains he will take out RM5 and give it to me. This ways of promoting not only can help us to spread out our event to more people but also helping him to promote his watches business.

  • 19. 19 Sponsorship After discussions, we decided to aim our family members such as our parents, uncles, aunts and friends companies as our sponsors. We asked for RM500 for our business purposes from our sponsors. We know them personally so that the chances we can get their sponsors are higher. We approached them through phone calls, face-to-face meeting and sponsorship letters. Chuah Wei Hong, one of our group members get a sponsor of RM500 from a company named Kean Guan Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. He started to make phone calls and had face-to-face meetings to discuss the details and the purposes of our business with them since the third week after our assignment brief. We get the sponsors from the company on 7th May 2013. They sponsor us in cash and we open a RM500 receipt for them.
  • 20. 20 Distribution All the products that we sell are handmade products. So we don‟t need to buy or get the product from somewhere else. What we need to do is just prepare the materials for our product. We buy colour papers from stationary shop and asked for discount from the boss of the shop. Then we print our bookmarks at Taylor‟s University library because the quality of printing is good. We deliver our product through posting and also face to face deliver. We have customers from Sarawak and other places. For some of the places that we cannot deliver face to face, we post it by using envelope. We experience one case that the bookmarks that we posted all got wet because of heavy rain. So, for the next time before we post we cover our bookmarks with plastic bag to prevent them from getting wet. Most of our customers are from our hometown. So we take some of the bookmarks back to our hometown and sell them when we meet them. We prepare some stock first before start to sell, so customers probably can purchase product from us not more than one week. When we decide what product we want to sell, we start to promote it. We post to Facebook, Instargram and Twitter to spread our out event. We also promote it through SMS and phone calling. For the first two weeks we get good respond from them. The highest sale per day is around RM200. Actually it is not difficult to gain customers, we do not force them to buy. I believe that our products attracted some of the customers due to the nice design especially the Running Man bookmarks for Running Man‟s fans. We know Running Man is quite popular among people nowadays and there are no Running Man bookmarks for sale yet. Customers can order product from us easily. Just leave a comment on the post that we posted to Facebook, Instargram and Twitter. They can also inbox or SMS us which bookmarks they want and the quantity they want. It is easy for us to keep update with our sale and respond immediately to customers who have questions or extra information to ask. What we need to do is once we get any order we must confirm with the customers about the product they want, the quantity, the price, ways to deliver our products to them and how we collect money from them. We must record it systematically so that we won‟t miss any order or sending wrong product to the customers.
  • 21. 21 Green Measures We have adopted environmentally- friendly measures during the project. The chosen materials of our product mainly are environmentally-conscious manner. Our products are mostly handmade and hand drawn. So we are actually using recyclable material and paper instead of using polystyrene and plastics. Cause we aim to sell plenty of bookmarks. We got the accurate measurement to reduce the waste of paper and fit in as many bookmark as we can into an A4 size paper. It is around 8 to 14 bookmarks can be fit in depends on the size of bookmarks. Besides that, we also have some handmade accessories, crochet. Crochet is a handicraft in which yarn is looped into a patterned fabric with a hooked needle. The only material used for crochet is yarn. The yarn we use is not totally recyclable material but obviously handmade is not coming from factories. The waste products come from factories is much more non environmentally-conscious manner. So it still reduces the hazardous effect. Moreover, we have an environmentally friendly for product packaging. We collect old magazine and reuse it as out product packaging. We cut and fold them into a small bag according to our product size. During the distribution stage we try to reduce the carbon footprint. We try to promote our product through internet early before our semester break. We targeted mostly out friends so it is easier to bring back during holidays. We will try to get ready for all the orders and bring it back to our hometown during the semester break. As we are selling bookmarks which is useful for all the times for readers or it can be a collection, so less people will throw away after use. But it is also hard to say, there is still a small group of people will do so. The material we used is paper so it is recyclable and reusable. Lastly, we are doing really a small business, so actually we did not use any extra electricity and water while running the event. These are the advantages of not selling food and beverages. It can prevent littering and rubbish everywhere.
  • 22. 22 Operation budget After several times of discussion, we estimate that we need around RM 100 to finish our products and as our promotion fees. We used the money to buy the stationaries and materials for our handmade bookmarks such as colour pencils, marker pens, drawing pens, colour papers and so on. Besides that, we pay the printing fees for the bookmarks using this money. We also bought yarn and thread for our crochet products materials. We promoted our products through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by sharing photos of our products. We also promoted our products through middle person. He is selling watches online, he inserts a bookmark into the packaging of the watch. He paid us RM5 for each of the bookmark. We promote our products with posters too. Through these, our promotion fees are quite low. In the end, we found that our cost is just RM 55 and it is lower than our estimated budget.

  • 24. 24 review own sales performance. Such as, Yap Zhong Lin will try to sell the handmade bookmark and crochet products online to know the feedback of the customers. If quite a lot of people want to buy the product, we will sell more, for example, Running Man Collection is hot sell product, while the Dota collection has lesser sales. A Marketing Manager needs to analyze the needs of the customers and developing marketing plan to promote the business. Such as, Kristine Yong will design a very attractive poster for the business and post it online to attract the customers. She also analyze the marketing by visiting the booth of the competitor one by one and understanding the weaknesses and strengths of competitors on the first day of Charity Drive Event. After that, she develop a new marketing strategies by providing promotion on buying a bookmark. Financial Executive needs to in charge in the financial planning, such as cash flow. He needs to prepare budets, take part in making decision regarding financial and control the risk of financials. Such as, Chuah Wei Hong will prepare RM 100 budget for our business to buy materials for making the bookmarks and printing stuffs. As a conclusion, Project Manager of our group encourage all the group members to share their opinion, then gather and improve it to produce a stronger idea. Group members are very cooperative by helping each other when the other members are busying with handling the other matter. For instance, after Yap Zhi Jun has drawn the bookmark we help her to colour it. We often gather and discuss together during lunch time in order to promote feelings of the group members. Thus, improving efficiency.
  • 25. 25 Evaluation of Results As a conclusion, we gain our profit by selling bookmarks, crochet products and booth rental. We rent our booth to an external vendor, Clothink, with daily rental of RM 100 per day. We earn RM 400 from rental, RM 1050 from bookmarks and RM 30 from crochet products. With some kind of addition and subtraction as shown in the table, we gained a total amount of RM 2460. However, there are some advantages and disadvantages we obtained from this project. We are able to gain advantages like try to search for sponsorship by contacting the outsider to sponsor for our business. This leads us to learn how to begin a small business. We also able to experience the difficulty of starting up a business. We cooperate well to achieve the same target which is gaining profits which exist RM 2000. Disadvantages like we did not set up a proper booth to sell the bookmarks and crochet products except the first day of the event, this already lead to some kind of loss of the chance to earn more profits. We also regret that we did not decorate our booth as attractive as our competitor. This causes people unable to notice us easily. Finally, if we can repeat the event once again, we will try to approach more and gain sponsorship from the outside business. We will rent the booth with higher price such as RM 150 per day, same as the rental of Taylor‟s University provide the vendors. We will also decorate the booth nicely by adding attractive banners. Walk around the campus to sell the products or ask for donation.
