  profession; instructor.
Teaching
          
 It is one of the oldest
of all learned profession know
          in civilization.
Jesus as a Teacher
        Jesus is characterized as a
         
               charismatic teacher and
               prophet who addressed his
               message to all people, as
               opposed to the elite groups
               taught in formal schools in
               ancient times. Jesus used
               parables, proverbs, legal and
               prophetic sayings to
               challenge the imagination
and to allow his listeners to
               discover his message.
Confucius as a teacher
                         
 As an educator, he wanted his
 disciples to be "rounded men
who would be useful to state
 and society, and therefore he
 taught them various branches
 of knowledge based upon the
 different classics. His primary
function as a teacher, he felt,
was to interpret to his disciples
 the ancient cultural heritage.
That is why, in his own words
as recorded in the Analects, he
was "a transmitter and not an
 originator."
Socrates, Plato &
             Aristotle as teachers
                      
 Socrates was a famous  Plato is Socrates’ student.  Aristotle is Plato’s
teacher in ancient  The whole Platonic teaching student.

students to question Absolute Goodness. Plato can be summarized in
things. "Is our was vividly conscious of the a single sentence:
government good? If immense profundity of the "Identity and causality
gods exist, where do subject. "To discover the rule the world."
they live?" Creator and Father of this
                          universe, as well as his
                          operation, is indeed difficult;
                          and when discovered it is
                          impossible to reveal him." In
                          him Truth, Justice and the
                          Beautiful are eternally one.
Hence the idea of the Good is
                          the highest branch of study.

 intellectually, emotionally, socially,
 and spiritually equipped with
 knowledge needed of a well-
 rounded, progressive, and globally
 competitive individual.
The Learners
People at birth are natural learners. They are interested, enthusiastic
and curious to learn new ideas and about many things.

A teacher should try to discover the different learning styles students have.
Ways by which children learn:
                            
         Imitation Motivation
 Children learn by observing  Interesting materials and
  and imitating others. stimulating environment
 Through repetition, attracts children’s
  knowledge is accumulated.

  error.  Teachers should provide
 They learn through active motivating factors and
  involvement and activities appropriate to
  experimenting with real
  things. individual differences of
                                  students.
Misconceptions about child learning
             Theories:
 Students who cannot  Studies reveal:
                                     Students should be identified.
remember verbal instructions A new subject matter should be
are less intelligent than those taught through several
                                      techniques and approaches
who can. until it is learned.

 Assignment and homework  Students get good grades when
should reinforce from the taught through perceptual
                                      strengths, so assignment and
day’s lesson. homework should be applied
                                      in doing or giving assignment.

                                     Students learn differently
 Older students learn better regardless of age, they should
and easier to adapt to be treated differently and be
teacher’s style. given options for completing
                                      tasks.
Misconceptions about child learning
           Theories:
 Whole group
                              Some students learn best when
                              
                                         Studies reveal:

instruction is the best they are alone, some when with
way to teach. adults, and others with peers.

 Truancy is related to  They are low achievers because
  poor attitudes.
they do not have study skills and
lack of interest, others are pre-
                                 occupied outside school activities.

 Effective teaching  Analytical learning is better when
requires a clearly stated taught well in the style they
objective followed by found easy and correct for
  detailed step-by-step
                                 themselves. Students learn
                                 difficult subjects best when
and sequential allowed with their preferred
