2. Every single person in the world has at
least one thing, whatever it may be, in
which they are really good at. I believe
that everyone should search for that
“one thing”, and once they find it, they
should dedicate there selves to it.
3. • When I was four years old, I found my talent, and
I became extremely dedicated to it. That thing
was the hard sport of wrestling. I soon found out
that wrestling is not only a sport; it is a lifestyle.
4. • It dumbfounds me how something as simple
as wrestling has taught me so many life
lessons and has changed my whole personality
in so many ways. It turned out to be one of
the most clever choices I have ever made.
5. • I wrestled all through high school, but my
senior year was the most unforgettable. That
is when Coach Vogel became my coach. He
had a passion for wrestling, as I did, and he
was very experienced in the sport.
6. • I grew to respect him significantly, and from then
on, I was not only wrestling to win for me, but I
wanted to win for him, as well.
7. • There is a particular event for which I will
always remember my coach. We were at a
tournament, and I was seeded first. I had to
wrestle the 4th seed in the first match. I had
injured my ankle in practice before the
tournament, and due to the injury, I lost.
8. I wanted to quit the tournament because of the
excruciating pain in my ankle, but coach Vogel
changed my mind. He gave me one of the most
inspirational pep talks I have ever heard.
9. • He looked me in the eyes and said, “Gold medals aren’t
actually made of gold. They are made of sweat,
determination, and a hard-to-find thing called guts. You
have guts, and I have trust in you, so let’s fight through
this stupid little pain you have and show these kids
what you and Bedford wrestling are all about!”
10. • After that talk, I no longer felt pain, but absolute
determination. I continued the tournament and ended up
taking third. That year I placed 1st in the rest of the
tournaments and went on to take second in state.
11. • I will always remember my experiences in High school and
little kid wrestling. They will be with me for the rest of my
life. Now I am in college and starting fresh. I believe
everyone can find something to be as passionate about, as I
am about this ridiculously hard and grueling sport. It is nice
to say that I have found my one talent.
