2. Christmas Carol Service
– December 2011
A long time ago an angel had told
Mary that she was going to have a
very special baby and when it was
nearly time for the baby to be
born, Joseph and Mary had to leave
their home in Nazareth and travel
with lots of other people to the
town of Bethlehem. 2
4. After a long journey, Joseph and Mary
looked for somewhere to sleep. The town
was so full of people that finding a place
to stay was not easy. There was no
room for them anywhere.
One innkeeper said,”Would you like to
stay in my stable?”
That night, in the stable where the
animals lived, the baby was born. Mary
and Joseph called their new baby Jesus.
They wrapped Him up to keep Him warm
and laid Him in a manger, where hay had
been put for the animals. 4
6. On a hillside outside
Bethlehem, some shepherds
were looking after their sheep.
They were woken by an angel,
who told them that a special
baby had been born in
Bethlehem.
The shepherds journeyed into
Bethlehem and saw a bright
star shining down on a stable.
6
8. Inside, they found the baby, just as
the angel had told them. Then the
sky was filled with angels, rejoicing
in the good news about the birth of
Jesus.
8
9. Come and Join the Come and join
Celebration the
(Sing twice) celebration,
It’s a very
special day,
Come and join
the
jubilation,
There's a
new king born
today 9
10. In a far away land, some Wise
Men had seen a new star in the
sky. They followed the bright
star across deserts, through
towns and villages all the way
to Bethlehem and right up to
the stable where the star
rested. Inside the stable the
Wise Men found the baby and
gave Jesus their gifts of gold,
frankincense and myrrh.
10
11. Hello Baby Jesus. (Sing x 2)
Hello Baby
Jesus,
Hello Baby
Jesus,
Hello Baby
Jesus
Baby Jesus
Hello.
11
12. This is the story of the first
Christmas. All over the world
people retell the story of Mary and
Joseph and the bright star which
guided the shepherds and the kings
to the stable where Jesus was
born.
It is a story we especially
remember at this time of year.
12
13. Away in a Manger (all sing)
Away in a manger, no crib for a
bed,
The little lord Jesus laid down
his sweet head,
The stars in the bright sky
looked down where he lay,
The little lord Jesus asleep on
the hay.
13
14. The cattle are lowing, the baby
awakes,
But little lord Jesus no crying he
makes,
I love thee Lord Jesus! Look
down from the sky,
And stay by my side until
morning is nigh.
14
15. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I
ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love
me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in
thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live
with thee there.
15
18. The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done
On earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
18
19. Forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin
against us
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and
the glory are yours
Now and for ever. Amen
