Priority on Audience Needs

 Design to help audience understand

a point/idea with brief phrases or
meaningful graphics.

When you are planning to use a multimedia presentation,
learning to effectively work with the delivery presentation
technology is a key to your success. While your audience
may not consciously notice the difference, design decisions
you make will have an effect on how your presentation is
perceived and how well they remember the information you
communicated.
 KISS – Keep it simply stated. Use no more than about 6
lines of type/6 words per line.
 Avoid wording overload. Cover only one topic or show only
one idea per slide.
 Replace complete sentences with bullet points. Use only key
words, not full sentences.

THE SAFETY AGENDA
FOR THE NATION
In this Agenda, the focus is in
three critical areas: safety in the
home and community, in the
workplace and on the road.
Obviously, these problems are
much too big to be solved by
any one organization. It will
take the effort and dedication of
the American people and our
private and public sector
leadership. These are everyone's
problems, and it will take
everyone's commitment and
action to solve them.

While your audience may not consciously notice the difference, design decisions you make will have an effect on how your presentation is perceived and how well they remember the information you communicated.  KISS – Keep it simply stated. Use no more than about 6 lines of type/6 words per line.  Avoid wording overload. Cover only one topic or show only one idea per slide.  Replace complete sentences with bullet points. Use only key words, not full sentences. © 2005 National Safety Council Safety Communication & Training Techniques 10
