2. Campus Compact
Established in 1985 by the presidents of Brown, Georgetown, and
Stanford Universities and the president of the Education Commission
of the States to counter a false public image of college students
Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts
Wisconsin Campus Compact is one of 36 state affiliates.
Currently more than 1200 member colleges and universities
representing some 6 million students
Dedicated to promoting community service,
Civic engagement, and service-learning in
higher education.

Concepts such as service, volunteerism, and activism
are united with educational goals to develop university
graduates who are prepared not only for a career but
also for a life as informed and involved citizens at both
the local and global levels.
Partnerships for civic engagement are formed by
educational institutions from pre-school through college
to strengthen children, families, campuses, and
