The Crater is in Antarctica
The crater was discovered by one of NASA’s gravity
radars
Its bigger and older then the huge and famous
Chicxulub crater in Mexico; that’s the one that
supposedly wiped out the dinosaurs!
It’s the largest impact crater ever recorded.
If a meteor like the one that made the Wilkes land crater
crashed into earth, we would go extinct.
3. History
The impact crater was discovered in 2006 by NASA.
It crashed into Earth about 250 million years ago!
It’s the biggest impact creator discovered on Earth.
It would have caused massive damage to creatures.
Russia and Korea also helped NASA scientists discover
the crater.
May have formed in conjunction with the 200 wide
Bedout crater in Australia
May have helped In the greatest max-extinction ever,
the Great Dying in the Permian period.
4. Geography
Found in Wilkes land, East Antarctica.
The crater is 500 (to be exact 483) kilometers wide
The crater was made by a 50 kilometer meteor
The crater was found deeply under the ice of the frozen
Antarctica
