About WESWEN company

The development of alternative energy forms and the search of alternative energy sources are the main
worldwide trends of the new millennium. The reasons underlying these processes are the exhaustibility of
hydrocarbon resources and the prospect of energy crisis in the near future; negative environmental impact
and the threat of the world ecological catastrophe; the necessity of lowering power inputs to reach greater
production efficiency.

WESWEN company develops and introduces modern technologies of
using alternative sources of energy – solar, wind, water and geothermal
energy.
We offer a series of effective systems of converting inexhaustible and
renewable natural energy: solar batteries and collectors, wind-powered
generators, thermal pumps and wave power plants. They can be used in
the regions located far from the centralized systems of heat and energy
supply, in the regions with capacity shortage, and for the supply of
houses, enterprises, and other facilities. The use of these devices ensures
uninterrupted power supply.
Our systems are ecofriendly and absolutely safe for users and the
environment.

WESWEN solar batteries and collectors

Principle of solar battery operation

Transformation of electromagnetic wave (light) energy
into electric energy.
Light flux hits the surface of a solar battery and
transforms in the battery material into electricity.
The electricity generated by the solar battery goes to the
storage battery charges under controller control and
accumulates there.
From the storage batteries electric energy goes to the
inverter, transforms there into alternating current of an
appropriate voltage level, and then goes to the final
consumer.
WESWEN solar batteries and collectors

Principle of solar collector operation

Transformation of solar radiation energy into
thermal energy.
A solar collector is a set of blacked tubes connected
at the top with a heat-exchange tank.
In the tubes the liquid gets warm from solar
radiation and begins to boil. Then, steam goes up to
the heat-exchange tank, and transfers heat to water
that can be used in the heating system or in the hot
water supply system.

Cost efficiency:

Cost efficiency of solar batteries is determined by a number of factors:
climatic conditions of the area where solar modules are installed, electricity
consumption mode, local power rates, cost of solar modules, etc.
If we consider a solar module (1 kW power) located in the zone of
moderate solar radiation intensity on the Ukrainian territory, in view of the
fact that electricity consumption is spent on the auxiliaries, we can
confidently say that the payback period will be less than 15 years.
If solar modules with greater power are used and the generated energy is
partially distributed to the shared electrical network, the payback period
comes down to 8-10 years.
WESWEN wind-powered generators

Range of application:

• Agriculture • Power supply of automated
                                        control systems,

    vessels) quality of electricity
WESWEN wind-powered generators

Principle of wind-powered generator operation

• Transformation of wind energy into electric energy.
• A wind stream runs against wind turbine blades and
makes them turn. Wind turbine blades are mechanically
connected to the generator rotor, which also starts to
    revolve.
• As a result of rotor rotation, generation of electricity
starts in the generator. Under controller control the
electricity goes to the storage battery charges and
    accumulates there.
• From the storage batteries electric energy goes to the
inverter, transforms there into alternating current of an
appropriate voltage level, and then goes to the final
    consumer.

• Reliability
• Ease of maintenance and operation
WESWEN wind-powered generators
Cost efficiency:

Payback periods and appropriateness of the wind-powered
generator installation depend on several factors: wind force at
the installation site, proximity to the electrical supply network,
availability of the installation place for the wind-powered
generator.
Initial rotating velocity of the wind-powered generator is 2
m/sec. The speed at which the generator operates with one
hundred percent efficiency is 8-10 m/sec. Naturally, the higher
wind velocity is, the more effectively the generator operates.
But it doesn’t mean that it is unprofitable to install a wind-
powered generator if wind velocities are lower than optimal
ones. Our experts will help find the right place, and the most
effective model and packaging arrangement of the wind-
powered generator.
The payback period for the wind-powered generators is about 5-
7 years. If there is no electrical supply network or there are
cyclic power cutoffs, the payback period will be about 3-5 years.
WESWEN thermal pumps

Range of application:

• One-family and multifamily houses
• Industrial projects
• Workrooms
• Office blocks and buildings
• Public buildings: nursery and daycare facilities,
     educational institutions, health facilities, cultural
     and educational institutions, shopping and
     entertainment centers, etc.
WESWEN thermal pumps

Principle of thermal pump operation
The principle of thermal pump operation is based on the
collection of heat from ground or water, and its transfer to
the heating system of the building
Passing through the compressor the coolant compresses
and heats up to a high temperature, and then moves to the
heating system of the building. On leaving the heating
system, the coolant cools down in the expansion valve to
low temperatures and moves to the heat exchanger,
situated in the ground or basin. In the heat exchanger the
coolant heats up by the ground or basin heat, and then
moves to the compressor. The cycle repeats again.
If the building needs cooling (conditioning), the opposite
process takes place: heat is taken from the building and
moved to the ground or basin.
The same thermal pump can operate in heating mode in
winter, and in cooling mode in summer.
WESWEN thermal pumps

Advantages: Недостатки:

• Doesn’t need fuel • Well-drilling in the ground for
• No irritants thermal pump placements
                                             • Needs power supply
• Long life • Difficult in operation and
• Versatility (heating and conditioning) maintenance
• Effectiveness • Moderately high initial costs
• High efficiency
WESWEN thermal pumps
Cost efficiency
• Cost efficiency of thermal pump use depends on
•    the temperature of the low-potential thermal energy source;
•    the cost of electricity in the area;
• the prime cost of thermal energy, produced using different kinds of fuel.
• The use of thermal pumps instead of traditionally used sources of thermal energy is economically sound because
    of:
•    no need to buy, transport and store fuel;
• the freeing of a considerable territory, necessary to place a boiler room, driveways and a fuel storehouse.
• Initial costs of thermal pump installation are a little higher than the cost of standard heating and conditioning
systems. The cost of the pump and the system installation is $300–1200 per 1 kW of the needed heating power.
The payback period of thermal pumps is 4-9 years with the life time until general overhaul of about 15-20 years.
However, if to consider maintenance costs, then the initial investments in geothermal heating, cooling and hot-
water supply are quickly repaid because of the energy saving. Besides, it is necessary to consider that a thermal
pump, when operated, doesn’t need any extra communications, except for home electric network.
WESWEN wave power plants

                           Range of application:

• Power supply of the facilities situated in the coastal zone
• Power supply of the offshore facilities (drilling platforms, vessel roads,
    beacons)
• Power supply of small islands
• Power supply of coastal cities
WESWEN wave power plants
Principle of wave power plant operation
Transformation of wave energy into electric energy.
In the power plants of the first type the transformation of kinetic
wave energy and energy of surface oscillations into electricity takes
place.
Kinetic energy of the wave coming into the tube rotates the turbine
blades which set the generator in motion. In the other case the
coming water pushes the air out of the closed space of the tube.
After that the generation of energy goes as usual. The escaping air
rotates the turbine blades of the generator.
In the power plants of the second type, when the energy of wave
rolling is used, electric energy is generated by the floats on the
water surface. Rocking them, waves set in motion the float-
generator system, which results in energy generation
WESWEN wave power plants

Advantages:
• Doesn’t need fuel
• No irritants
• Long life
• High specific power

Drawbacks:

• Dependence on wave force
• Difficult in operation and
     maintenance
• High initial costs
WESWEN wave power plants
Cost efficiency:

Wave power plants have a number of advantages:
• high efficiency (up to 70%), determined by the fact that the
power plant is a flexible energy-absorbing system that
continuously changes its parameters under the influence of
incoming sea waves with wide-ranged lengths and
   amplitudes
• the level of specific capital costs ($3,500-4,000 for a kW)
• low cost of the generated energy ($0,05-0,08 for 1 kW/h)
• low materials consumption (less than 150kg/kW)
• high resistance at stormy sea
• mobility (can be towed off to any part of the water area)
• payback period of water power plants is 2-5 years

Weswen company presentation

  • 2. About WESWEN company The development of alternative energy forms and the search of alternative energy sources are the main worldwide trends of the new millennium. The reasons underlying these processes are the exhaustibility of hydrocarbon resources and the prospect of energy crisis in the near future; negative environmental impact and the threat of the world ecological catastrophe; the necessity of lowering power inputs to reach greater production efficiency. WESWEN company develops and introduces modern technologies of using alternative sources of energy – solar, wind, water and geothermal energy. We offer a series of effective systems of converting inexhaustible and renewable natural energy: solar batteries and collectors, wind-powered generators, thermal pumps and wave power plants. They can be used in the regions located far from the centralized systems of heat and energy supply, in the regions with capacity shortage, and for the supply of houses, enterprises, and other facilities. The use of these devices ensures uninterrupted power supply. Our systems are ecofriendly and absolutely safe for users and the environment.
  • 3. • 4. WESWEN solar batteries and collectors Range of application: • Mobile consumers of heat and energy supply (mobile hospitals, mobile search- • One-family detached houses and-rescue teams, scientific expeditions, troop units in the field, • Office blocks and buildings, frontier posts, gamekeepers’ posts in educational institutions, sports the wildlife reserved areas, etc.) facilities • Transport • Manufacturing facilities • Agricultural sector • Sparsely populated residential areas
  • 5. WESWEN solar batteries and collectors Principle of solar battery operation Transformation of electromagnetic wave (light) energy into electric energy. Light flux hits the surface of a solar battery and transforms in the battery material into electricity. The electricity generated by the solar battery goes to the storage battery charges under controller control and accumulates there. From the storage batteries electric energy goes to the inverter, transforms there into alternating current of an appropriate voltage level, and then goes to the final consumer.
  • 6. WESWEN solar batteries and collectors Principle of solar collector operation Transformation of solar radiation energy into thermal energy. A solar collector is a set of blacked tubes connected at the top with a heat-exchange tank. In the tubes the liquid gets warm from solar radiation and begins to boil. Then, steam goes up to the heat-exchange tank, and transfers heat to water that can be used in the heating system or in the hot water supply system.
  • 7. WESWEN solar batteries and collectors Advantages: Drawbacks: • General availability and inexhaustibility of the • Dependence on illumination and daylight hours energy source • Small efficiency degradation in the course of • Long life time • Moderately high initial costs (for a battery) • Safe for the environment • Reliability • Ease of maintenance and operation • Moderate price (for a collector)
  • 8. WESWEN solar batteries and collectors Cost efficiency: Cost efficiency of solar batteries is determined by a number of factors: climatic conditions of the area where solar modules are installed, electricity consumption mode, local power rates, cost of solar modules, etc. If we consider a solar module (1 kW power) located in the zone of moderate solar radiation intensity on the Ukrainian territory, in view of the fact that electricity consumption is spent on the auxiliaries, we can confidently say that the payback period will be less than 15 years. If solar modules with greater power are used and the generated energy is partially distributed to the shared electrical network, the payback period comes down to 8-10 years.
  • 9. WESWEN wind-powered generators Range of application: • Agriculture • Power supply of automated control systems, • Manufacturing facilities communication and supervisory • Cottages control facilities, medical • Small farm enterprises apparatus, computing • Small villages machinery and other • Transport (yachts, small size equipment, critical to the vessels) quality of electricity
  • 10. WESWEN wind-powered generators Principle of wind-powered generator operation • Transformation of wind energy into electric energy. • A wind stream runs against wind turbine blades and makes them turn. Wind turbine blades are mechanically connected to the generator rotor, which also starts to revolve. • As a result of rotor rotation, generation of electricity starts in the generator. Under controller control the electricity goes to the storage battery charges and accumulates there. • From the storage batteries electric energy goes to the inverter, transforms there into alternating current of an appropriate voltage level, and then goes to the final consumer.
  • 11. WESWEN wind-powered generators Advantages: Drawbacks: • General availability and inexhaustibility of the • Dependence on wind force energy source • Needs to be installed at the height (on the • Long life support) • Noisiness • Safe for the environment • Moderately high initial costs • Reliability • Ease of maintenance and operation
  • 12. WESWEN wind-powered generators Cost efficiency: Payback periods and appropriateness of the wind-powered generator installation depend on several factors: wind force at the installation site, proximity to the electrical supply network, availability of the installation place for the wind-powered generator. Initial rotating velocity of the wind-powered generator is 2 m/sec. The speed at which the generator operates with one hundred percent efficiency is 8-10 m/sec. Naturally, the higher wind velocity is, the more effectively the generator operates. But it doesn’t mean that it is unprofitable to install a wind- powered generator if wind velocities are lower than optimal ones. Our experts will help find the right place, and the most effective model and packaging arrangement of the wind- powered generator. The payback period for the wind-powered generators is about 5- 7 years. If there is no electrical supply network or there are cyclic power cutoffs, the payback period will be about 3-5 years.
  • 13. WESWEN thermal pumps Range of application: • One-family and multifamily houses • Industrial projects • Workrooms • Office blocks and buildings • Public buildings: nursery and daycare facilities, educational institutions, health facilities, cultural and educational institutions, shopping and entertainment centers, etc.
  • 14. WESWEN thermal pumps Principle of thermal pump operation The principle of thermal pump operation is based on the collection of heat from ground or water, and its transfer to the heating system of the building Passing through the compressor the coolant compresses and heats up to a high temperature, and then moves to the heating system of the building. On leaving the heating system, the coolant cools down in the expansion valve to low temperatures and moves to the heat exchanger, situated in the ground or basin. In the heat exchanger the coolant heats up by the ground or basin heat, and then moves to the compressor. The cycle repeats again. If the building needs cooling (conditioning), the opposite process takes place: heat is taken from the building and moved to the ground or basin. The same thermal pump can operate in heating mode in winter, and in cooling mode in summer.
  • 15. WESWEN thermal pumps Advantages: Недостатки: • Doesn’t need fuel • Well-drilling in the ground for • No irritants thermal pump placements • Needs power supply • Long life • Difficult in operation and • Versatility (heating and conditioning) maintenance • Effectiveness • Moderately high initial costs • High efficiency
  • 16. WESWEN thermal pumps Cost efficiency • Cost efficiency of thermal pump use depends on • the temperature of the low-potential thermal energy source; • the cost of electricity in the area; • the prime cost of thermal energy, produced using different kinds of fuel. • The use of thermal pumps instead of traditionally used sources of thermal energy is economically sound because of: • no need to buy, transport and store fuel; • the freeing of a considerable territory, necessary to place a boiler room, driveways and a fuel storehouse. • Initial costs of thermal pump installation are a little higher than the cost of standard heating and conditioning systems. The cost of the pump and the system installation is $300–1200 per 1 kW of the needed heating power. The payback period of thermal pumps is 4-9 years with the life time until general overhaul of about 15-20 years. However, if to consider maintenance costs, then the initial investments in geothermal heating, cooling and hot- water supply are quickly repaid because of the energy saving. Besides, it is necessary to consider that a thermal pump, when operated, doesn’t need any extra communications, except for home electric network.
  • 17. WESWEN wave power plants Range of application: • Power supply of the facilities situated in the coastal zone • Power supply of the offshore facilities (drilling platforms, vessel roads, beacons) • Power supply of small islands • Power supply of coastal cities
  • 18. WESWEN wave power plants Principle of wave power plant operation Transformation of wave energy into electric energy. In the power plants of the first type the transformation of kinetic wave energy and energy of surface oscillations into electricity takes place. Kinetic energy of the wave coming into the tube rotates the turbine blades which set the generator in motion. In the other case the coming water pushes the air out of the closed space of the tube. After that the generation of energy goes as usual. The escaping air rotates the turbine blades of the generator. In the power plants of the second type, when the energy of wave rolling is used, electric energy is generated by the floats on the water surface. Rocking them, waves set in motion the float- generator system, which results in energy generation
  • 19. WESWEN wave power plants Advantages: • Doesn’t need fuel • No irritants • Long life • High specific power Drawbacks: • Dependence on wave force • Difficult in operation and maintenance • High initial costs
  • 20. WESWEN wave power plants Cost efficiency: Wave power plants have a number of advantages: • high efficiency (up to 70%), determined by the fact that the power plant is a flexible energy-absorbing system that continuously changes its parameters under the influence of incoming sea waves with wide-ranged lengths and amplitudes • the level of specific capital costs ($3,500-4,000 for a kW) • low cost of the generated energy ($0,05-0,08 for 1 kW/h) • low materials consumption (less than 150kg/kW) • high resistance at stormy sea • mobility (can be towed off to any part of the water area) • payback period of water power plants is 2-5 years
