2. Caring for a family member can be emotionally difficult and
take a toll on the caregiver's own physical health. That is why
WellMed Charitable Foundation provides its Caregiver SOS
services.
Four Caregiver SOS centers, located in San Antonio, Corpus
Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley, provide complimentary
educational and support services to individuals age 60 and
over, as well as to their primary family caregivers. Services
include one-on-one aid, instruction, wellness activities, and
access to community resources. All of this is aimed at
ensuring that family caregivers have the support they need to
continue caring for their loved ones while maintaining their
own physical and emotional well-being.
3. For those who are unable to visit the Caregiver SOS
centers, the Caregiver Teleconnection program is
available. The program is a series of free,
confidential learning sessions conducted via
telephone. The sessions provide advice and help on
a range of caregiving topics. Lessons are offered in
both English and Spanish. Thus, through Caregiver
SOS, family caregivers can find the assistance they
need for themselves and their loved ones.
