Over the past year, Microsoft has reached out to the hosting community to find out more about how deployments are going and what hosters are struggling with. We listened. The result of that effort includes improvements to our existing partner programs and a new hosting partner engagement framework.
Part of this effort is a joint partner business plan (a “Go-to-Market” plan) that includes marketing support for the partner and what Microsoft expects in return. The long term joint go-to-market plan would include what promotional or development areas Microsoft will provide funding support for and where higher levels of technical support will be made available. EXAMPLE Provide joint promotional opportunities where partner: Presents product or solution details to Microsoft internal groups Provides battlecards to assist Microsoft account teams in understanding how to position the partner’s product or solution Creates other marketing materials that Microsoft sales team can use

The Windows Platform allows for greater upsell through making available to small-to-medium business added functionality that used to only be available to Enterprises with on premise deployments: Hosted Sharepoint and Hosted Exchange.
