Rolf Riemenschneider is the new Head of the Internet of Things Sector at the
European Commission and the Directorate of Communications Networks,
Content and Technology (DG Connect). In his role he is involved in the research
and innovation programme Horizon 2020 where he manages projects on Cyber
Physical Systems, Factories of the Future and Internet of Things.
Given the importance that is being put on the Digital Single Market Strategy by
the European Commission and Commissioner Oettinger’s recent announcement
at the Hannover Messe: “Industry 4.0, which is about digital innovation in
products, processes and business models, offers opportunities that we simply
cannot afford to miss.”, we are delighted to welcome Rolf at the Industry of

With the launch of the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation, the EU Commission is definitely
