This document provides 10 tips for how Norwegians can save water, including taking shorter showers, replacing shower heads with low-flow models, turning off the water while brushing teeth or shampooing hair, only hand-washing dishes when necessary, watering lawns with a can instead of a sprinkler, and replacing older toilets with low-flow models.
2. 1.Quick showers
A standard shower uses 16 liters of
water per minute. Think about how
much water you save by stand five
minutes less in the shower!
2. Showers instead of baths
If you take a shower instead of
having a bath you can save 90 liters
of water.
3. Turn off the water while
shampooing your hair
By turning off the water while
soaping up and shampooing your
hair, you can save thirty liters or
more every time you shower.
4. Install a shaving shower
A water-saving system uses about
half as much water as a normal
shower. All you have to do is replace
the shower head.
3. 5. Turn off the water when brushing
your teeth
Turning off the water while brushing your
teeth is a simple measure to conserve water.
It often goes with over twenty liters of water
on a teeth cleaning if you let the water run
constantly.
6. Only rinse when necessary
A dishwasher uses about seven liters a wash
if you use a saving program. That is just as
much as you use when you let the water run
for a minute while you wash the dishes. You
can wipe off the leftover food with a tissue
and throw it in garbage. Then you won't clog
the tubes because of the fat, and it also saves
water.
4. 7. Fill the basin
You use more water if you wash up by hand
than starting the machine. If you do not have a
dishwasher, it is wise to fill the sink with water
instead of washing up while the water is
running.
8. Use a watering can
Your lawn can do without water. If you drop
the sprinkler, you save about 270 gallons each
time you water. If you water the flowers, it is
wise to use a pot. If you are really clever, you
can collect rainwater and irrigate with this.
5. 9. Wash your car in a
car wash
You use less water if you
wash your car in the car
wash than if you do it by
hand. If you wash your
car in the car wash, the
water is also cleaned of
heavy metals and oil
before being discharged
in the sewerage network.
6. 10. Buy a saving
toilet
Toilets with saving
buttons use half as
much water as
conventional toilets.
Also make sure that
your toilet is not
draining or soar as
leaks leading to a
higher water
consumption.
