This document discusses how SketchUp can be used for construction project planning and management. It describes how a dynamic component database can be created in SketchUp to represent various construction elements like pipes, valves, concrete, and steel. These components can have attributes and behaviors assigned. The document also discusses how the component database allows collaboration between project stakeholders to assemble a 3D model for preconstruction planning purposes, including generating accurate bills of materials and construction drawings that can be updated automatically when changes are made to the SketchUp model.

PART 01- Making Component Database
The Dynamic components will represent anything in the construction world such as
pumps, pipes, valves, steel, concrete or electrical instruments. The attributes that are
assigned into the dynamic components can be simple pieces of extra information like
Part Number, Cost and Weight. Attributes can also contain spatial relationships (like
how two parts are positioned relative to each other), and behaviors (like animation
and smart scaling). Some Dynamic Components are very simple (a pipe elbow with
a part number attached), and some are very complex.

PART 02- Assembly the database PRECONSTRUCTION

By the collaboration between owners, construction management teams and
contractors, I can assembly, move, rotate and scale all components in the model in
the way that all people want to. The objective of this collaboration via the sketchUp
model to perform PRECONSTRUCTION PROCESS.
PRECONSTRUCTION PROCESS is the process that encourages all parties and
individuals who are involving into the construction project to share ideas, methods
and procedures. This exchanging information will be applied into the 3d model done
in SketchUp. Once it is finished the 3d construction model will represent the
construction project prototype ( that is filled with useful information) that will later be
used by everyone during construction phase.
Component Database is the key. If all construction pieces in the real world are
changed into components, 3d construction models will be very useful. Bill of
Materials, Procurement plan, Construction documents and drawings, Construction
management and even Facility Management will be done more accurately and
quickly. Please thinking about this words “ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE”.

PART 03- BOM (Bill of Materials)
By using generate reports along with the dynamic component database I can make a
Bill of Materials very quickly and more precise than ever before

PART 04- Construction drawings
LayOut is the program I have been using for making construction drawing. It links the
plans, elevation and sections of the finished model to the 2d drawings within the 2D
CAD environment. Updating and changing the construction drawings can be done
more easy than conventional 2d CAD like AutoCAD, because the 2d construction
document in LayOut can update automatically when the sketchUp model is changed
or updated.
