2. What is Tagging?
When we first arrived at Lloyd
Elsmore Park we discussed
the difference between
tagging & graffiti.
Graffiti is a type of art which
you use spray paints for. It is
something that is full of
drawings and signs but
tagging is a totally different
thing. Tagging is actually
gangster words written on
other people’s property.

3. This man on your right is
called Jack. He is a very nice
and helpful man.
Jack works with the Manukau
Beautification trust. He is a
very good painter who helps
the environment by painting
out tagging. Jack is a very
dedicated man.

some of the tagging on
the Lloyd Elsmore bridge.
Jack is not the only one
who works with the
Manukau Beautification
Trust.
There are two more
people who work with
him; they are Louis and
Jonathan. The manager
of the Manukau
Beatification Trust is
Barbara.

5. One of the most exciting
parts of our trip was
painting out tagging. Jack
taught us how to do that.
First we had to have the
exact same colour as the
background, in this case it
was white. Next we had to
paint, brick by brick, this
makes it much neater and
easier.

6. As you can see in this
picture these four boys
are working very hard
together painting the
big blacky-brown wall.
These people are
Daniel Yeom,
Fraser Saxe, Gavin
Walsh and Fraser
Macdonald.

8. These are some of the
taggings that the
gangsters did. The
policeman said that
they found two
hundred spray paint
cans in this
underground car park.
That's a lot of cans.
We were shocked to
see so much damage
to the environment

9. By this time we were
all very tired from
working so hard. But
we were still having
fun.
Would we want to do
this every day like
Jack ? No way.
So the message is use
those spray cans for
painting to better the
environment not to
destroy it.

10. As you can see we
have nearly
finished and all we
need is the
finishing touches.
Even Mr. Jenkin
has been working
very hard.
