‘Bachelor’ Week 4: ‘Tortured’ Tierra has a meltdown –
USA TODAY
Selma and Leslie H. get special dates with Sean; Tierra turns on
the tears.

Opening scene: Sean Lowe shirtless — and pantless. Wearing only his black boxer-briefs, Sean
walks into his closet and begins getting dressed. Let another drama-filled episode of The
Bachelor begin.

One-on-one date: Selma, 29, the real estate developer from San Diego, is whisked away in a
private plane. She has no idea where they’re going, and she’s dressed in a tank top, leggings
and tennis shoes, so it’s not gonna be fancy.

They arrive in the desert and Selma confesses, “I am so disappointed. I do not do well in heat.
At all.”

It’ll get worse before it gets better, Selma! They hop in a Jeep and go to Joshua Tree National

                                                                                           1/6
Park.

“I’m an outdoorsy guy. I love doing anything active,” says Sean. “Today will be a good test to
see if Selma kinda fits that mold.”

“I feel puffy,” she says.

Then he suggests they do some rock climbing. “Oh my god. Oh my god,” she says, adding, “I
hate heights.”

But she gamely straps on her gear and gives it a try, saying she feels sick and prefers six-inch
heels. But she manages to beat Sean to the top of the rocks. “You really impressed me today,”
says Sean.

“I’m sitting on top of the world. Beautiful scenery, beautiful man,” says Selma.

Later they have a date at an RV park. They lounge under the stars and toast each other, perfect
scenery for smooching. Sean talks about having one serious relationship out of college, but “I
wasn’t in a place in my life where I felt like I could get married.” But, he assures, now he is.

Selma says she grew up in a “very, very, conservative, strict home. We’re Arabic, you know.
You can’t date and you can’t do this and you can’t do that.” She was born in Baghdad as a
Muslim, she explains, confessing to the camera that “to kiss somebody on national television, I
think my mom would literally have a heart attack!”

Meanwhile, Sean’s thinking he wants to kiss her.

“I can’t kiss you now,” she whispers. “I want to.”

Selma explains that her mom is not happy about her being on the show. She confesses she
wants to “feel his lips on mine, but we’ll have to wait until I’m his only lady.”

Sean gives her a rose and says, “I’m crazy about you.” He kisses the top of her head.

Group date: Lindsay, Robyn, Jackie, Catherine, Amanda, AshLee, Sarah and Tierra are taken
to the roller rink for a derby date. “This is going to be fun to watch ‘cuz you’re all very sweet
girls,” says Sean, “so this will be interesting.”

                                                                                            2/6
Is Sean falling for Catherine or Robyn?(Photo: Rick Rowell, ABC)

They all suit up. Amanda tells the group she has done roller derby bouts before (and she tells
us that’s a big lie). Robyn keeps falling down. Sarah realizes this is a “physical hurdle,” falls
and cries. “At moments like this I just want to be normal.” AshLee tries to give her a pep talk
and a hug. Sean tells her she doesn’t have to do it, but she wants to impress him.

Next thing we know, Amanda has fallen and bashed her chin. Medics are called and she’s told
it “could be a broken jaw.” She leaves to get it checked at the hospital. Sean then says they
won’t have a competitive roller derby. Instead, it’ll be a free skate party. Everyone breathes a
sigh of relief, and soon it’s over.

“I know today was rough for the girls,” he says later as they all get dressed up and head out for
drinks, something they are all really good at.

Tierra, meanwhile, is pouting and vowing to steal time with Sean. ‘I’ve been on three group
dates and I hate it.”

But first he takes Sarah aside for some private time.

Amanda returns to the group, appearing to be fine, and Sean takes her off for some private
time. “Don’t make me laugh,” she says to Sean, cuddling with him. “It hurts.” To the cameras,
she says, “I’m going to milk the heck out of this. This didn’t happen for nothing.”

                                                                                              3/6
Sean then takes Lindsay away for cuddle time, making Tierra madder and madder. “I’m about
to walk outta here. I just don’t like the girls, the environment, anything. I don’t trust anyone
here,” she declares. She goes over to a crew member and says, “Can I go? I want to leave.”

Meanwhile, Sean’s having a heavy make-out session with Lindsay as Tierra is wailing. “I can’t
take it! I’m breaking down inside!”

Sean’s about to hop in a hot tub with a now-bikini-clad Lindsay when Tierra stops him. “I just
can’t do it,” teary Tierra says. “I sit every day wondering how much time I’m going to get with
you … It’s torture, seriously torture. It’s hard seeing you go with other girls… ”

Sean flirts with her and they wind up smiling. “I’ll be back,” he says. He grabs the rose, much
to the shock and dismay of the other women. “I honestly see something very special in Tierra,”
he confesses. “If Tierra goes home, I’ll always wonder what could have been.”

He says to her, “I’m crazy about you.” And gives her a rose. They hug and kiss.

“She’s like a plague of bad energy,” grumps Robyn.

Sean and Leslie H. on the Jan. 21 episode of ‘The Bachelor.’(Photo: Matt Brown, ABC)

One-on-one date: Leslie H. lands a date that comes with diamond earrings. “This is like Pretty
Woman. My favorite movie!” she says, marveling at the sparklers when the date card arrives.

                                                                                             4/6
After Sean arrives, he asks if she likes the gems. “Holy moly!” she says. “Do I like ‘em!”

They walk out to his convertible sports car. “Oh my god!” she shrieks.

They head to Beverly Hills and he says they’re going shopping, just like in Pretty Woman. “This
is every girl’s dream,” she says.

As she and Sean choose a dress, she says, “Winner winner chicken dinner!”

They dance a little in one of the boutiques to try out her shoes. “Sean definitely is a young,
sexy, blond, blue-eyed Richard Gere,” she says. “And I am a tan Julia Roberts.” The final
touch: A 120-carat diamond necklace loaned from jeweler Neil Lane. (She gets to keep the
earrings.)

Now that they’re all dressed up, they need somewhere to go. “Holy moly!” she says again, as
they head to a quiet private dinner.

“I want to get to know you,” Sean says. Leslie explains she dated a guy for a long time but they
grew apart and he married the next woman he found. Her parents divorced when she was 5,
and she vows that she only plans to get married once.

Sean confesses that while Leslie is “gorgeous” and she’s a “joy to be around,” he’s not
feeling the “romantic connection.”

To her, he says he “didn’t feel it click today.” He adds, “Leslie, I can’t give you this rose.” She
bites her lip, gets up and leaves. As they walk out, she wishes him luck, gives him the necklace
back and says, “Just watch out for some of the girls. They’re not here for the right reasons. .. I
want you to find your wife.” It’s never fun to be dumped after a dream date, but she handles it
with class.

Ben Taylor, son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, was supposed to give them a private
concert. He winds up singing just for Sean. “I didn’t know I would feel this bad,” says Sean.

Cocktail party: Sean tells AshLee he’s been thinking about her. They kiss happily.

A determined Robyn takes a seat with Sean and says, “I’m trying to think which pick up line to
use on you tonight.”

“Let me hear your best,” he dares her.

“Do you like chocolate?” she says, picking up a piece of chocolate. “Do you want a taste of
chocolate? Which chocolate do you want to taste?” He has no problem answering that with a
kiss. Robyn beams. “I got what I want.”

Tierra tells Robyn and Jackie she wishes “everyone would just focus on themselves.” She
apologizes for her drama to them, then tells the cameras the apology was “fake.”

                                                                                              5/6
She gets some time with Sean and says, “I hate drama, but for some reason girls have a hard
time accepting me for who I am.” She tells him, “I just want to focus on me and you.” Sean
assures her he won’t be “influenced” by what anyone else says about her.

“I can read Tierra,” he tells cameras. “I know she has a good heart and I know she’s here for
                                   the right reasons.”

Catherine finally gets some time alone with Sean and they clearly have a connection. “I’m so
attracted to you,” she says, with a giant grin. “I’m so attracted to you,” he says. “I love being
around you. … All you do is giggle… You’re so easy to be around.” She takes him aside so they
can hug and kiss. “I really like you. You’re so fun to be around. I’m so comfortable with you,”
                                   he says.

She says, “I don’t think we ever waste time when we’re together.” They nuzzle and laugh, and
she says, “I have such a crush on you.” She tells cameras, “The kiss I had from him was
perfect. … I’m so over the moon.”

Rose ceremony: Tierra makes one last vow to the cameras, “I’m going to make sure I get that
final rose. I’m not going to let any girl stop me from being with Sean.”

Tierra and Selma have roses. There are nine more to be handed out: Sean gives them to:
Catherine, Desiree, Lindsay, Lesley, Robyn, AshLee, Sarah, Jackie and Daniella.

Which means that Amanda and her busted-up jaw must leave. “I feel really rejected and it
hurts,” she says. “Heartbreak is such a difficult emotion.”

Next week: ABC announced there will be two nights of Bachelor fun — Monday and Tuesday.
