8.  Lord Melbourne was the Prime minister and
treated Victoria like his own daughter. He
would tell her how to rule the country and how
to avoid the harsh realities of British life. He
even told her not to read “Oliver Twist” by
Charles Dickens because it dealt with
paupers, criminals, and other unpleasant
subjects.
